Two fist pumps up for Made in Jersey!
September 28th, 2012 under CBS. [ Comments: none ]

Tonight at 9p Made in Jersey makes it debut on CBS and you want to catch this cute legal drama. Martina Garretti (Janet Montgomery) is a girl from Jersey who just landed her dream job as a lawyer in a top Manhattan firm. Even though NJ and NY are neighboring states, they can be a world apart for some. Martina is a street wise girl, who is having problems fitting in at her uptight snotty firm, and her knowledge of the real world will help her in cases that her coworkers might have problems with. Because of that this tough little girl, might actually have a chance surviving with all of these sharks.
Made in Jersey is sweet legal drama and that is largely because Janet Montgomery is so likable. So I won’t object if you add this show to your TV viewing tonight at and every Friday at 9p on CBS before Blue Bloods.

NCIS picks up the pieces tonight.
September 25th, 2012 under CBS, NCIS. [ Comments: none ]

Tonight at 8p NCIS is back for its 10th season on CBS and it picks up shortly after their offices were blown up. We get to see who made it out of the building alive and who didn’t. Ziva and DiNozzo are still stuck in the elevator, and with all the debris around them will anyone even know they are in there. Then there was Ducky, who wasn’t even in the building at the time, and last time we saw him he suffered what looked like a heart attack on the beach outside Jimmy’s wedding. Was season 9 his last or is he back for 10th one?
Once we get all of those answers we skip ahead a few weeks and we learn that Gibbs has a good lead to where Dearing is. Now the NCIS team will do everything they can to stop him, but is he smart enough to elude them once again? All I will say is there is another explosion and not everything is at seems.
I will also tell you one more thing Gibbs will do something that you never expect him to do and it will be interesting to see how that changes things for the #1 show on TV. I guess we will just have to tune in to find out every Tuesday.

CBS starts tonight with a wedding, introduces us to some Partners and ends with best prisoner escape!
September 24th, 2012 under CBS, How I Met Your Mother. [ Comments: none ]

How I Met Your Mother is back on CBS tonight at 8p for what is looking like it will be the final season and it starts off with Robin and Barney’s wedding. Since that is the future we have to go back to the present and find out how that came about. Barney is still with Quinn and he shares the happy engagement news with his friends Robin, and exhausted new parents Lily and Marshall. Since Quinn doesn’t know that Barney dated Robin, he asks everyone to keep it a secret but will they? Meanwhile Ted is with Victoria who left her wedding to be with him. Knowing what it is like to be left at the alter, he convinces her to go back to the Church and tell her now-ex-fiance’ that she left him. Is she the mother? All I will tell you is that at the end of the episode we will see her. So you have to tune in for that reveal.

Then at 8:30p Will and Grace’s David Kohan and Max Mutchnick are back with a new sitcom called Partners that is partially based on their story. Joe (David Krumholtz) and Louis (Michael Urie) have been best friends since they were kids and now they are business partners in an architecture firm. Joe is straight and he has been dating Ali (Sophia Bush) for over a year and things are starting to get serious for them. Louis is living with his partner Wyatt (Brandon Routh) and he screws things up all the time by being Louis. But it isn’t only his own life he keeps messing up, he also screws up everyone else’s. Thankfully Joe is there to clean up his messes even when it his life that his BFF has completely destroyed. They are the Yin to the other one’s Yang and by them being complete opposites that is what makes this show so funny. Then you throw in the beautiful Sophia Bush (who is really good at comedy) and the handsome Brandon Routh (who gets really emotional in next week’s episode) and you have the makings for a hit that in the perfect meat in the HIMYM and Two Broke Girls sandwich.

Finally at 10p Hawaii Five-0 ends the night with an episode that is so fantastic it feels more like a 2-hour action movie than a 1-hour drama.
The show picks up exactly where it left off with McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) opening the door and us seeing who is on the other side of it. Who that person is will change him forever and answer questions he never thought he would get the answers to.
Kelly (Daniel Dae Kim) does everything he can to save his wife, but will it be too late:? Is she the one that dies or is it his cousin Koho (Grace Park)? Or did both of them miraculously survive? That you will have to tune in to see, but I will tell you revenge in on his mind no matter the outcome. Because of that we will see him change into a different person tonight.
And as interesting and game changing as our leads’ stories are, the best part of the episode comes with the most original prisoner escape you have ever seen/will ever see. It is so breathtaking and brilliant that you just have to watch it take place and wonder how the hell they came up with that.
There is so much more I want to tell you about that prisoner break because it is so juicy, but it would be a major spoiler point that would take away from the awesomeness of tonight’s action-packed thrilling episode that barely gives you a second to breathe. Seriously I can’t remember the last time I was more blown away by an episode than I was by tonight’s Hawaii Five-0, so make sure to watch it even if it is the first time you are checking out the show.

Remember Lisa Whelchel who played Blair Warner on The Fact of Life? Well she is back on TV and she is going to be competing on the next edition of Survivor that debuts on September 19th on CBS. The former televsion teen actress, as she describes herself, really wanted to be on the show. And fans of her ’80s sitcom are happy to have her back on TV even if it is reality.
When it comes to the rest of the Survivors, does anyone else care who will be on the 25th edition of the show? Well the only we do care is if one of the three contestants, that have not been named yet, is Nancy McKeon. Who else would like to see Jo Polniaczek and Blair Warner go at one more time and this time in the jungles of Philippines.

Justin Silver talks about Dogs in the City
July 11th, 2012 under CBS. [ Comments: none ]

Tonight at 8p on CBS you can watch as Justin Silver has a way of talking to Dogs in the City, New York City that is and I recently spoke to him about the show and animals.
Every Wednesday night we watch him work miracles with man’s best friend, so I wanted to know how he got started in the business. He told me, “It happened very naturally for me. I was doing stand up comedy at night and doing personal training during the day. Personal training taught me how people ticked, you are helping people get over their physical stuff. There is the emotional aspect to it too. I learned about the excuses people make and getting them over the emotional hump that will help them keep up the work and get in shape. That was the human aspect. Then I would come home at night after doing stand up and I felt a little bit of a void and feeling empty. I would watch those depressing animal commercials in the middle of the night and I was like I am going to start rescuing dogs. I started working with the independent shelters, pulled dogs off of death row and I would have them in my house, rehabilitate them. It kind of just happened, like I just had to figure it out. With these dogs, you don’t know much about their background. But they are living there in your apartment, so you’re like alright I gotta figure this out. So that is how I cut my teeth with it. I just got known in my neighborhood as the guy who would take in the dogs. Neighbors started asking me to help with their dogs. Then pet stores started referring me. Vets started referring me. One thing lead to another and I was doing it a lot.” He then added, “It all happened very organically for me and that is exactly how the show happened. I got approached by the producers. I met with them one day and they started following me around. It just sort of happened.”
Watching the show we have seen him work his miracle on these pups and he let me in what is really important for every dog everywhere. He said, “Just having them around other animals, whether it is pavement or park is going to do wonders for them for their socialization and stuff. I say get them around as many dogs as possible. Keep them outside as much as possible. If it’s cold out, throw a coat on them. My thing is exercise with other dogs is really the best thing.”
And what about that person who decides they want to bring home a puppy, here was his advice on that “The most important thing is they have to recognize it is a two-way street. A lot people think alright I am going to get the dog. They get the dog to satisfy their own needs. I’m lonely or I want someone to pet at the end of the night. But you have to realize this dog has requirements for exercise, requirements for training, requirements for socialization. You are now becoming a dog owner, so that is an aspect of your life that is going to change and you have to recognize that. If you don’t provide those things for it, you are going to have problems. Just returning it or sending it back, like that is not really an option. People have to know there is a responsibility involved with taking care of a dog. Although it is not exactly the same thing as taking care of a child, but it is a different lifestyle.”
A lifestyle for some might be a dog, but for me it is cats. So I wanted to get some tidbits on the other four-legged friend. He responded with, “I love introducing cats and dogs. It is one of my favorite things to do. When people have cats and dogs, you need to know how to train dogs on the cat terms. It is always an important thing. Dogs want to get in there and rumble around. With cats you are going to wind up with scratch marks on your nose. So it is important to teach the dogs how to respect the cat’s space. I love cats. I love all animals, with the exception of cockroaches I love all animals.” Then he added that cats are good to get rid of those nasty bugs.
We did not see him work with cats and dogs this season, but it would be something he would like to have on the next one if the show gets picked up. What else would he like for season two? These are a few of the things he would like to do, “I like working with dogs and other animals. I worked with dogs on ranches. I have gotten called to ranches to socialize the dog with other animals. I am not as familiar with other animals, and I would like to do more of that. I have worked with dogs and birds before.
“Other situations I would like to do is working with dogs with disabilities. I always like providing resources for people with that. I like making people understand that just because a dog has a disability doesn’t mean it is helpless. That is such a nice thing. I work blind dogs and deaf dogs on a daily basis. That is something I would like to do more of.
“Working with dogs around water, teach them how to swim.”
So what does he do when the cameras stop rolling, he told me about an amazing charity he started called Funny for Fido. He said, “It is comic relief for animals. We put the country’s best comedians together for a benefit and all the money goes to the rescue shelters. That is the way that I have been incorporating stand up and my love for animals for a long time. We have dogs there for adoption. The comics get really involved. I get calls from their parents who want to adopt the dogs from us and we raise a lot of money.” Knowing about my fur ball, he added that they raise money for cats too.
Between talking to Justin Silver and watching Dogs in the City I have learned so much from him about properly raising a dog. If you are a dog owner, then there is so much you can learn from him by watching the show on CBS or CBS.com.
If you need Justin to help you personally, you can find out more about his company The Language of Dogs on the website.
