CBS’s 2022-2023 schedule is filling up. That is because they renewed Survivor, The Amazing Race, Tough As Nails, and Secret Celebrity Renovation for another season.

That means, in the Fall, Survivor will air its 43 edition. Can you believe that?

The four reality shows join CSI: Vegas, Bob Hearts Abishola, Ghosts, The Neighborhood, and Young Sheldon.

Marg Helgenberger is back on CSI’s case
February 11th, 2022 under CBS. [ Comments: none ]

CBS brought back CSI for a sequel, and original cast members William Petersen and Jorja Fox returned to the show for the first season. However, both announced they are not coming back for the second one.

Therefore, the low-rated series, which also lost Mel Rodriguez, needed to get someone from the mothership to join the show or its ratings would plummet. So they called Marg Helgenberger, who should be done filming All Rise by the start of CSI: Vegas’ season if she would like her role back. And she said yes.

According to Deadline, the actress only agreed to do the series for one year. So, if the drama gets picked up for a third season, they might have to look at Gary Dourdan or George Eads to reprise their roles. That should be interesting…

CSI: Vegas loses its third cast member

When CBS announced that they renewed CSI: Vegas for a second season, they said that William Petersen was not coming back. Earlier this week, Jorja Fox, who also from original series, said she decided that her character could not come back without Grisson.

Today, Deadline is reporting that Mel Rodriguez, who plays Hugo Ramirez, is also leaving the show.

With his departure, that means that half of the cast is gone. So who is left? The remaining three actors are Paula Newsome, Matt Lauria, and Mandeep Dhillon. The three actors I never heard of before I posted their names. Because it is all about me.

With all of these departures, it makes you wonder if CBS made the right choice by picking up the procedural for another season. Do you think you did?

Back in December, CBS announced that they picked up CSI: Vegas for a second season. They also revealed that William Petersen was not coming back for more episodes. Today we found that he is not the only one.

Jorja Fox, who is an original cast member of CSI wrote, “Hey all you #CSI fans! After much deliberating, I have decided not to ‘Sidle up’ for CSI Vegas. For me CSI has always been a love story. The story that people can find love in the darkest of places and times. And the story that love, even in the darkest of places and times, can expand and grow roots and endure.

“I personally just can’t split Sara and Grissom up again. So goes Grissom…..So goes Sara. Wherever they go, they belong together.

“Thanks for watching everyone!!!!! Keep tuning in! I know I will. CSI: Vegas has an incredible team and it should be an amazing show!”

I respect her reason for leaving. However, it makes me wonder if CBS made the right choice of picking up the show for a second season. Are you still going to watch without them?

CBS announced today that they are picking up Ghosts, The Neighborhood, and Bob Hearts Abishola for another season. The three shows will join Young Sheldon and CSI: Vegas on the 2022-2023 schedule.

“We’re thrilled to bring back television’s four most-watched comedies for next season, and I’m proud of the incredible team that maintains CBS’ position as the clear leader in comedy,” said Kelly Kahl, President, CBS Entertainment. “Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, together with a breakout cast and exceptional writers, have done a superb job of adapting GHOSTS for the U.S. and absolutely making it their own. This smart and charming show is delivering new creative highs, not to mention scaring up new audience highs, every week.”

“And on Mondays, the perfect pairing of THE NEIGHBORHOOD and BOB HEARTS ABISHOLA continues to deftly blend belly laughs with relatable and culturally relevant storylines, thanks to these exceptionally talented actors and outstanding creative teams,” Kahl continued.

Ghosts has been the surprise hit of the Fall. Each week the show has been finding more and more viewers, and they are sticking around. That is the power of the heartfelt, funny comedy that makes you fall in love with it at first sight.
