CBS cancelled The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and gave his slot to Byron Allen, who is paying for the two-hour slot.
Was Allen able to pay enough people to watch him? Nope. After a full week, the mogul who thinks he is funny is averaging 885,000 total viewers for his first half-hour show and 590,000 at 12:05a.
According to Late Nighter, that is an average of 737,000 viewers. How is that in comparison to what Colbert did? He was getting 2.7 million viewers for the first part of the season. Therefore, Allen lost two million viewers.
Who is the biggest loser? The local affils. I hope they revolt because, without them, CBS is in more trouble than it is now. And don’t get me started on what they are doing 60 Minutes.
Byron Allen reportedly paid tens of millions of dollars to air his show, Comics Unleashed, in The Late Show’s old timeslot on CBS. Is he getting his money’s worth?
When I heard what he was doing, I joked that only people who fell asleep during the 11 O’clock local news would be watching. And I wasn’t far off.
According to Late Nighter, only 995,000 watched the first hour on Friday, and 1/3 of them did not stick around for the second hour.
If that is how his first episode did against a repeat of Jimmy Kimmel Live, it is only going to get worse.
Therefore, this is another failure due to Meidas Trump, who turns everything he touches into shit.
Do I feel bad for Harris’ massive failure? Not at all. His takeovers have destroyed many people’s lives. He can buy timeslots, but he can’t buy people to watch him. Typical rich guy trying to buy friends, only to find out not everyone is for sale.
Before Byron Allen had to pay for people to watch his shows like Comic Unleashed, Johnny Carson gave him his big break on The Tonight Show. He looks the same now as he did when he was 18 during that 1979 episode.
It is rumored that CBS parted ways with Stephen Colbert at the urging of donald trump. And with that, the network decided to end doing late night original programming, something they started in 1993 with David Letterman.
So what will be filling The Late Show’s timeslot? They will air a two-hour block of Byron Allen shows, Comics Unleashed and Funny You Should Ask.
Comics Unleashed has been used as filler at 12:35a between the end of The Late Late Show with James Corden and the start of After Midnight, and then it returned when that comedienne’s name I don’t remember left.
Today, CBS announced that Comics Unleashed will move to 11:35p and 12:05a, and then Funny You Should Ask will follow at 12:35a and 1:05a.
So get ready for lots of PSA and religious ads during that two-hour block, because who is going to want to advertise during those two shows? I also expect that the 11p local news will suffer because people used to tune into watch the news before Colbert.
Yes, it is cheaper to air this. But in the long run, I think it will be more expensive.
When James Corden left The Late Late Show, CBS replaced him with After Midnight.
After two seasons, Taylor Tomlinson quit the game show with comedians to return to comedy. Because of that, CBS cancelled the show.
Today, the network revealed what will be airing after The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Comics Unleashed, a talk show hosted by Byron Allen, will be airing at 12:37a.
“Comics Unleashed is a true passion for me, simply because this world can never have enough laughter,” said Byron Allen, founder/chairman/CEO of Allen Media Group. “I created this show so that the best comedians can all come together and help bring non-stop laughter.”
This is not the first time CU aired on CBS in this timeslot. The show was a filler until After Midnight finally launched.
