When I think of Axl Rose, I so do not think of him doing a duet with Billy Joel. But that actually happened in Minneapolis on Friday night, delighting and I am sure confusing fans of the Piano Man.
Even though the mashup should not have worked, it somehow did. Who knows maybe there is a duet album in their future. Stranger pairings have happened. Not much stranger, but close.
They also rocked out to AC/DC’s Highway Hell which is more like the Guns N’ Roses singer’s style.
Yesterday Slash received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and he asked Charlie Sheen to introduce him. Now if you are going to have the Anger Management star take part on your big day, you know he is going to say something monumental. Well he did when he started his speech by talking about the guitarist’s former Guns ‘N’ Roses band mate. He said, “It’s quite fitting that Slash is getting a star on the very street Axl Rose will one day be sleeping on.” Wow if Sheen says that about you, it is bad. Funny, but bad.
Sheen then went on to talk about his friend and neighbor in a really touching speech that was as much humor as it was heart.
Axl Rose was walking on to the stage at Hellfest to sing Guns N’Roses biggest hit Sweet Child o’ Mine and thanks to some stairs it really became a hellfest for him. The singer said welcome to the floor as he went down face first on to some stairs. I guess he can’t sing and go up some steps at the same time.
BTW I am sure the real members of GNR have made GIFs of his trip to watch over and over again. I know I can’t stop watching it and I didn’t get screwed over by him like they did.
Guns N’ Roses will be inducted into the Rock and Roll of Fame on Saturday and since that announcement the original band members have been asked how they will treat their ex-bandmates at the ceremony and let’s just say it hasn’t been positive. Well just days before the big night, Axl Rose announced in a statement on Facebook that he will not be attending. But it doesn’t stop there, he also said that “I respectfully decline my induction as a member of Guns N’ Roses to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.” The long letter goes on and on about Poor Axl and how he is putting himself before the fans but he still loves them. If The Police, who weren’t talking at the time could all accept the honor together; why can’t he suck it up for one night?
If you needed another reason to not be a fan of Axl Rose, I think you have it. But let’s be real after the Chinese Democracy debacle, we didn’t really need another reason.
Oh and if you want to read the whole long boring letter that he wrote to the Hall of Fame then click here!
