Before teenage singers were saying that Ariana Grande was their role model, she was telling MTV News about which singers she looked up to. How sweet was the 15-year-old in that 2009 interview when she was starring in 13 on Broadway?
Ariana Grande was perfect this weekend on Saturday Night Live. However, during rehearsal, it was a different story.
For the Céline Dion/UFC skit, she had a little problem saying, “Opponent’s anus.” In her defense, it is not easy to say.
It is also not easy to sing like the Canadian songbird, but the actress makes it look so effortless.
In fact, I think the Wicked Star is better at making impressions than most of the current DNL Not-Ready-For-Primetime-Players. Too bad she never joined Kenan Thompson, who also came up with Nickelodeon, on the live variety show.
Yesterday, Ariana Grande hosted Saturday Night Live eight years after the first time she did it. And she was not alone off camera. The actress had a high school friend there to support her, and together, they were Victorious.
Who was it? Jade, I mean, Elizabeth Gillies! Even though Jade was a little tough on Cat, in real life, Gillies is always there for her friend. And I am here for it.
Personally, I wish that it had been Jade and Cat, not Sam and Cat, as the spinoff we got. They were my favorites on Victorious, and imagine the duets they could have sung together.
When it comes to Ariana hosting, the show sucked, but she nailed the shit they gave her to do, especially castrated Antonio. Grande and Gillies are both underrated for their acting.
Saturday Night Live is going into its 50th season. And now we know who are the first five celebrities hosting the late night variety show and the musical guests who will be supporting them.
Sept. 28 – Jean Smart / Jelly Roll
Oct. 5 – Nate Bargatze / Coldplay
Oct. 12 – Ariana Grande / Stevie Nicks
Oct. 19 – Michael Keaton / Billie Eilish
Nov. 2 – John Mulaney / Chappell Roan
I have some ideas for SNL! For week one, they should have a Designing Women sketch with Annie Potts and Delta Burke reprising their roles and Michael Myers as Linda Richman filling in for the late Dixie Cater as Julia Sugarbaker. Imagine the rants she could give in 2024.
Then, I would have Ariana Grande and Stevie Nicks sing Landslide as a duet. I would also like to see Nicks recreate the above bit! How funny would that be?
The first full trailer is out for Wicked, and it looks like it is going to be a theatrical event!
The musical, starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo as Glinda and Elphaba, feels like the type of movie you have to see at the movies to truly experience the epic adventure in the land of Oz.
Will the film be enough to get people’s butt back in the movie theater seats? We will find out this Thanksgiving.
How do I think it looks? As they say in Boston, “Wicked!”
