Anthony Anderson is going to host the Emmys this Monday on Fox, and he has a special role for his mom, Doris, with whom he co-hosts We Are Family.
He told Entertainment Tonight, “I’m letting people know there will be no play-off music. My mother will be your play-off music. So, please, be respectful. Get up here. Thank your god. Thank your agents, and everybody just make the stage in a timely fashion.”
“And you can’t say no to somebody’s mama,” Emmys producer Jeannae Rouzan-Clay added.
You can’t. So, if you win on Monday, make your speech short or face Anderson’s mom. And that is a fate you do not want.
Tonight at 9p on Fox, we are getting a singing competition which is unlike anything we have seen before.
We Are Family is hosted by Anthony Anderson and his Mama Doris, who steals the show. Why she doesn’t have her own show, I don’t know. But she is perfect for this one.
So, what is We Are Family about? Like I said, it is a singing competition. But the singers don’t win anything.
They are just there to perform as the studio audience tries to guess who their celebrity relative is.
There are three rounds in each game. During the first round, the family member sings one song solo as clues are shown behind them. Then, after the audience gives their guesses, they sing again with their famous relative, who is behind a sphere. More clues are shown on the screen to help the audience.
Now, it is time for the reveal! And we find out how many people got it right. Those who did get to share a $20,000 prize.
It is the same for the second round, but this time, they share a $30,000 prize.
The person who was the quickest to buzz in moves on to the final round, where they can win $75,000 if they guess correctly.
What makes the show so special is not only the Andersons but also the fact that the celebrities are doing this show to help their family member get some exposure. That’s right; they got to choose who they wanted to put front and center.
I love it when families help each other out. And this show makes that happen. Plus, we get to find out that some of these celebrities are actually good singers.
Who are these celebrities? They are actors, singers, comedians, and athletes. So it is nice to hear a different side of them.
We Are Family is The Masked Singer meets Claim to Fame with a lot of heart.
Therefore, it is the perfect show that you can watch with your whole family show. And the celebrities are famous enough that every generation can guess who they are.

Fox shared the first look of Anthony Anderson and his mom Doris’ new show We Are Family, and the game show looks like it is going to be a lot of fun/ny. Mostly because of the mother and son’s interactions with each other.
And also the excitement of the contestants trying to figure out who the famous relative is of the person singing.
I am curious who they got to take part in the game show, so I will be watching it when it debuts on January 3rd.
Foxx backed out of hosting, We Are Family, on Fox, and Anthony Anderson got the job. Because of that, it made him available to host the postponed Emmys.
So, on January 15th, that is exactly what the actor is going to do.

Anderson is the perfect choice to host the award show. Not only is he likable, but he is also very funny. And his mom, Doris, better also be part of the night because she is what makes Anthony the best that he can be!
The Andersons show We Are Family debuts January 3rd on Fox.
A few months ago, Fox announced that Jamie Foxx and his daughter, Corinne, would be hosting the game show We Are Family.
Well, things changed, and the Foxxes are out. And the Andersons are in. Anthony Anderson and his Mama Doris will be hosting the family musical competition show.
“I jumped at the opportunity to host We Are Family and can’t wait for you to see all the celebrities, their relatives and the many surprises we have in store this season – and with my mama by my side, you never know what’s going to happen!” said Anderson.
So what is the show that Anthony jumped at the opportunity to host with his mom? We Are Family will feature a studio audience entirely comprised of 100 contestants playing through multiple rounds of clues and gameplay to win up to $150,000 each by correctly guessing which celebrity the performer is related to before they are revealed. Celebrities appearing on We Are Family will range from musicians and professional athletes to actors and beyond. Viewers will be encouraged to play along at home with their families to see if they can figure out the famous face behind the talented relative
We Are Family debuts on January 3rd. And I will be watching because Mama Doris did a good raising her son, and I will support everything they do! Plus, they are a lot warmer than the Oscar winner.
