Simon Cowell has earned the nickname King of Mean for a reason, he is mean. But ever since he became a dad to not only his son but also his pooches, he has gotten a little nicer. Yesterday on America’s Got Talent, he did a first for himself.
After Sara Carson and Hero the Super Collie did their act, neither Howie Mandel nor Mel B thought that they should move on the next round. When the dog trainer started to cry, not only did Cowell go up there to comfort her; he got Mandel to change his vote. That meant with the two men and Heidi Klum voting for Sara and Hero, they got to advance to the next round.
Just when you think you have seen it all in Reality Television, they still manage to surprise us. Whoever thought that Cowell would go that length that he did to save a contestant who was about to eliminated, but he did? I sure as heck thought it would be a cold day in hell before that would ever happen, but we had a warm Spring.
When it comes Sara and Hero’s routine? I thought it was OK but not as great as Simon thought it was. I like dog acts but I was not that wowed by this one. What did you think?

If Simon Cowell ever decides to retire, we won’t have to worry about his dynasty coming to an end. That is because his 3-year-old son is ready and able to take over his father’s reign.
Yesterday on America’s Got Talent, Prince Eric showed us that is more than willing to “press the scary button all day.” Which means that someday in the future, he will be known as the King of Mean just like is father is now, and it seems like he will be a supreme one at that. So to the future talent contestants of the World, it doesn’t look like you will be ever be able to avoid the Cowell Monarchy. Be good or be mocked!
If you are like me, then you were shocked when NBC announced last week that they hired Tyra Banks to replace Nick Cannon as the host of America’s Got Talent. It looks like we are not alone because this photo of her with the 4 judges, Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum and Simon Cowell, comes off as really awkward to me. The former AGT host always seemed to bend down a bit to show they were all friends. In this picture, it is like she thinks she is the star. What she doesn’t realize, on shows like this one, the host is the person who gets the least attention. Which is fine with me when it comes to her. Seriously, why did they hire her?
Last month, Nick Cannon abruptly quit America’s Got Talent and late yesterday Simon Cowell and NBC announced who is going to replace him. The new host of the competition show is Tyra Banks and I give it 4 Xs. What are they thinking?
A good host is about the contestants and not themselves, with Tyra everything is about Tyra and Banks and Tyra Banks. Plus, who still likes her? That is why she suddenly departed not one but two of the shows she hosted last year. She said she left her talk show FABLife and America’s Next Top Model because of her businesses and new baby, but let’s be honest that is not what any of us thought happened.
And I wouldn’t be shocked if there were rumors about tension between judge Heidi Klum and her before the show debuts in May. While Tyra is no longer working on ANTM, Klum is still hosting the successful German version. I am sure that has to bother Banks.
When it comes to watching AGT, no way I will watch with her hosting. She is a channel turner. NBC has some great people within their own network they could’ve gone with like David Alan Grier and Jeff Dye, so I don’t what they are thinking.
This decision makes absolutely no sense to me. Can you make sense of what they were thinking when they hired her? The only thing I can think of is either Freemantle or Simon Cowell are working on a show with her and they think this will help get them all some publicity?
Last week, TMZ reported that Nick Cannon almost got fired from America’s Got Talent over a joke he told in his Showtime Comedy special about NBC forcing him to lose his “Black Card.” Today, even though the network said they would not fire him, he says he doesn’t want to say. He took to Facebook to explain his decision.
In his long post, he said, “I have mulled over my process for days and felt it was best to once again speak my mind about an unjust infrastructure that treat talent like they own them. Maybe it was my mistake for signing the contract in the first place, in which I will take full responsibility and have already taken action to restructure my own team of advisors. I now have to set out on a journey of freedom as an artist. As I was quoted in a recent interview, ‘You can’t fire a Boss!’ and that is the essence that I possess. So I wish AGT and NBC the best in its upcoming season but I can not see myself returning” In fact, he goes on to say that he is thinking of quitting the industry all together.
As of now, no word from NBC on his decision and who might replace him in the LA Rounds that are set to tape next month and the show this summer. If it were up to me, I would go with either Leslie Jones or Jerry O’Connell. Who would you hire?
When it comes to Nick Cannon, I think he is making a mistake. NBC had every right to consider firing him. Since he has only worked as an actor, musician and/or comedian, he doesn’t know the first rule of having a job. Never bad mouth the company you are working. The first amendment doesn’t protect your employment even if it is all done in fun. I used to think he had a huge future in this business, but now I think he is so full of himself that he is at the point of no return.
