Could Paula Abdul be Simon Cowell’s X-Factor?
September 23rd, 2009 under American Idol 9+, Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell. [ Comments: none ]

Simon Cowell is in talks with Fox to bring his show X-Factor to the US according to The Hollywood Reporter. Simon’s American Idol contract is up this year and part of what they say he is negoitiating with Fox is not only that he would stay on Idol for 2 years, but that they would also add X-Factor to the lineup. The reality show mogul would make a rumored $50 million a season each for both shows. (I’m sorry, but WTF does someone need to earn $100 million a season for? And I do mean him too. No one in the world is worth that amount of money.) Now back to X-Factor, THR is also reporting that Paula Abdul is a candidate to Judge the show if Fox picks it up. Oh wait dealing with Paula again might be the reason why he is asking for that much money!

Now that Paula Abdul is officially out of work what will she do next?
September 10th, 2009 under American Idol 9+, Craig Ferguson, Paula Abdul. [ Comments: 1 ]

(starts at 2:13 in)

Yesterday it was announced that Ellen DeGeneres would be the fourth Judge on American Idol which means that Paula Abdul is officially out of work. So last on The Late Late Show, Craig Ferguson demonstrated what could be her next TV job. Craig really does a good Paula, looks like he had to go back to the days he wrote about in his book American on Purpose that is out on September 22nd to really transform in to her. Make sure to watch it all the way through because the last one is the best!
And since you know he live, he was too busy prepping for the show that goes on 3 hours after the announcement to mention that Ellen is the new Judge! LOL! Seriously what awesome timing was that skit, since you know it was live!
BTW tonight on CBS’s Late Late Show at 12:35a he has on Kate Beckinsale!

Ellen DeGeneres is replacing Paula Abdul on American Idol
September 9th, 2009 under American Idol 9+, Ellen DeGeneres, Paula Abdul. [ Comments: 3 ]

Ellen DeGeneres announced on her site that she will be replacing Paula Abdul on American Idol when the season starts up in January. At this point I am just taking it all in, so you guys tell me how you feel about it and that will me decide if this is a good or bad thing. I do know one person who won’t be happy with the news…Paula Abdul…

UPDATE: Fox confirmed the news on the American Idol site.

UPDATE 2: Ellen DeGeneres did an interview with Ryan Seacrest today and in it she talks about her new job. She says that she will not be mean, which has me nervous. She also said that it might’ve come about after she appeared on SYTYCD as a judge over the summer and that has me even more nervous. Her time on that show was just a bunch of cheesy one-liners with out adding any substance to the show and I really hope that is not all her camera time on AI will be.

American Idol will put anyone in Paula Abdul’s seat

Days before they started the audition rounds for season 9 of American Idol, Paula Abdul quit the show. Fox was left scrambling to find someone to replace her, so they decided why go with one person when you can test out several others. So far they have announced or used people like Victoria Beckham, Shania Twain, Mary J. Blige, Kelly Clarkson, Joe Jonas, Neil Patrick Harris and Kristin Chenoweth to fill in for Paula; and today EW is reporting that Katy Perry and Avril Lavigne will be sitting in on the LA auditions. I know that Katy Perry was already announced, but I still feel she is a one album wonder and what gives her credentials to judge the future American Idol. And when it comes to Avril Lavigne, does she have enough to say to make her appearance watchable? Has she ever done an interesting interview?
When you look at the last few names like Neil Patrick Harris, Kristin Chenoweth and Avril Lavigne, it is almost like Fox and American Idol will take anybody who says yes. I feel for the people trying to fill Paula Abdul’s seat because it is looks they are scrapping the bottom of the barrel. I am afraid to think who else they will get.
Seriously if they keep it up with these names, I am not sure I will be watching the American Idol auditions when the show comes back in January. And for some reason, I don’t think I will be the only one.

Paula Abdul finally talks about American Idol
August 31st, 2009 under American Idol 9+, Paula Abdul. [ Comments: none ]

Finally after weeks of being silent, Paula Abdul opens up to TV Guide Magazine on why she left American Idol.

You’re looking amazing, Paula. And you seem so happy today. No regrets about leaving American Idol?
You know, to say ‘no regrets’ isn’t easy. I feel like I have been such a big, huge part of the success of the show from day one. I loved being able to be the artist’s artist; being there from my point of view of knowing what it feels like to be vulnerable and to be out there wanting to achieve the most magical moment in a minute and thirty seconds. To be able to do that was an amazing experience and the show was wonderful for me in that regard.

Will you still tune in?
Of course I will. I’ll watch it as much as I can. I had some really unforgettable moments that hit plateaus for me and I’m very blessed to have been a part of what made television history.

Is there anything the show could do to get you back?
That’s a hard question to answer right now. I mean, I don’t think I can answer that right now.

Is it just about the money?
It’s never…I stand on principle where many people stand on money. I’m a hard-working artist. I’ve lasted in this business for 23 years. And you can’t do that unless you are good at what you do. I believe in myself and you have to have your own self respect. And sometimes decisions are very difficult to make, but I’ve always believed that at the core I’m a survivor. There’s not one thing I’ve done that I’ve really set my mind to that I’ve failed at.

Lastly, what do you want to tell your many TV Guide Magazine fans who will be missing you next season on American Idol?
The fans all should know I adore, love, appreciate and respect how much they’ve expressed their outpouring of love and support for me. That’s what keeps me going in lots of ways. The fans are supporting and rooting for me in all the future endeavors I’m doing. I love that and I’m grateful to American Idol for allowing all of that to happen.

Kind of like her judging on American Idol, she really hasn’t said anything but I have to know every word she is saying. I wonder if she is being so wishy-washy because they rumors that she will be back in January are true?
Check out TV Guide Magazine to see what she is doing next and what she wants to do now that she is no longer committed to American Idol.
