Steven Tyler did an interview with Classic Rock Magazine and he told them, “I don’t know what I’m doing yet, but it’s definitely going to be something Steven Tyler: working on the brand of myself – Brand Tyler.†CRM wrote that quote meant that he was leaving Aerosmith. But I am not sure if that means he is really leaning the band and I am not the only one who is confused by his statement.
When Joe Perry read that he called Steven Tyler, but he has not picked up his phone or returned his calls. So he when Las Vegas Sun called him, he gave them an interview and told them that he also thinks that means that Tyler quit after being the singer of the band for almost 40 years.
“Steven quit as far as I can tell,†Perry said from his Boston home. “I don’t know anymore than you do about it. I got off the plane two nights ago. I saw online that Steven said that he was going to leave the band. I don’t know for how long, indefinitely or whatever. Other than that, I don’t know.â€
Part of the problem, he says, is that Tyler doesn’t return his phone calls.
“He’s notorious for that,†Perry said. “That’s one thing I’ve learned to live with. I try to overlook it. I like to pick my battles. Frankly, the last few months I’ve been wanting not to rock the boat. I don’t want him canceling any more gigs. We really wanted to do these last four. We just kind of didn’t want to call him out or anything and get him anymore pissed off, for whatever reason. So we just let things lie. So we did the gigs and, like I said, I got off the plane and saw this online. That’s how I know about it.â€
So what will Aerosmith do without the voice?
“Right now I’m adjusting to how we’re going to go on,†Perry says. “Aerosmith is such a powerful band, I mean it’s like a steam locomotive. You just can’t disregard 40 years of four guys who play together as well as they do. We’re just trying to – at least I am – trying to figure out what direction the band should take.
“As far as replacing Steve, it’s not just about that, it’s also four guys that play extremely well together, and I’m not going to see that go to waste. I really don’t know what path it’s going to take at this point, but we’ll probably find somebody else that will sing in those spots where we need a singer and then we’ll be able to move the Aerosmith up a notch, move the vibe up a notch.â€
It is like Steven Tyler falls off the stage once and he goes to complete crap. I mean why quit Aerosmith after 40 years and go solo. You are too old for that.
Would you buy his solo album or go see Aerosmith without him? I wouldn’t do either because the 4 them belong together or not at all.
Last night while performing in South Dakota, Steven Tyler fell off the stage and sustained minor injuries according to TMZ. The 61 year old rocker was performing Love in an Elevator when they had some audio problems and the Aerosmith singer was dancing to entertain the crowd when he fell off the stage backwards. He was airlifted to a local hospital where they said he suffered minor injuries to head, neck and shoulder. Hopefully he will be better soon and he be lovin it up till I hit the ground anytime soon again.
Before Josh Hollyway was a con artist on Lost, he was stealing Alicia Silverstone’s purse in Aerosmith’s music video for Cryin’! OMG how beautiful was the 24 year old actor back in 1993? I love him with short hair and a clean shaven face, not that I think he looks bad now! Believe me, I like him anyway I can see him!!!
Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler will never forget his first meeting with Sir Paul McCartney because the former Beatle gave him his famous thumbs-up greeting in a men’s toilet. Tyler and McCartney first met in the late 1970s when Aerosmith covered The Beatles’ Come Together for the movie Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Tyler remembers, "I was in a backstage urinal at the Hammersmith Odeon (in London). McCartney walked in, started doing what people do in urinals. "For the record, I did not check his size out! But I’m taking this p**s that seems to be taking forever, and Paul says, ‘Hey! Steven Tyler, I f**king love your music.’ And he gives me the famous thumbs-up with his one free hand. Well, that snapped my stream, right there. "It turned out to be quite a night, that one. I recall fat ones being smoked and a lot of wrestling on the floor."
I am so excited to see what Aerosmith’s lead singer does tonight on CBS’s Two and a Half Men at 9p! This is one of the few shows that actually knows how to use A-List talent as guest stars unlike Will & Grace, et al!
