On Sunday Hollywood gave back to Meryl Streep for amazing acting with a third Oscar, and yesterday it was revealed she has been quietly giving to the community for years without anyone knowing. According to Forbes, her husband Don Gummer and her having been donating millions of dollars without fanfare. Forbes said, “In 2010 alone, they gave away $2.13 million–about half of it to Vassar, but $100,000 to Oxfam America, and another $5,000 apiece to things like New York’s City Meals on Wheels and Coalition for the Homeless. They’re very giving to local charities in their Connecticut neighborhoods, and support museums in Boston and Illinois. Last year they even gave $200,000 to the National Women’s Museum in Alexandria, Virginia.” Yeah I love her even more than I did before. We need more superstars in the world like her and less like the you know whos?

Lowe’s gets an Outsourced ad that is a must watch and share!

Two of the actors (Parvesh Cheena and Rizwan Manji) from NBC’s shouldn’t-have-been-cancelled Outsourced, made an ad in response to Lowe’s pulling commercials from TLC’s All-American Muslim. I implore you take 2:00 of your day to watch this and share it with your friends, the message behind it is extremely important and in time when we are asking for Peace on Earth this brilliant video is helping to convey it.
Don’t be ignorant, take some time to learn about others. It is a rewarding thing to do.

Keanu Reeves the Gentleman proves chivalry is not dead!!!
December 12th, 2011 under Admirable People, Keanu Reeves. [ Comments: none ]

via INF Daily
Keanu Reeves was sitting on a NYC subway when passengers boarded at a stop. At first he moved over to the railing, so that another guy could sit. Then when he looked over to his right and saw a woman was standing because there were no more seats left, he offered her his and she graciously took it.
I never thought I could love more than I have since Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, but after seeing what a gentleman he is I love him ever more. Seriously you have to respect any man that proves chivalry is not dead, and one even more when he is a celebrity because so many of them think they are entitled to sit on their a$$es while the lay people stand.
Plus he is braver than me because he takes the NYC subway, I still get creeped out taking it since I saw a guy masturbating as he looked at my friends and me when we were barely teens. Yes those horror stories are true, but I hear not as much as many more. Crap next time I am in NY, I might take the subway just on the off chance that Keanu is on it and would let me on his seat…if you know what I mean!!!

A-f*cking-men!

(Rated NSFW for L)

I am not one to talk politics because I sincerely I hate politics and the bullsh!t that comes with it. Well after listening to this rant, I say that Felonious Munk should run for f*cking President because what he said is the G-d’s honest truth! As much as I think you should listen to what he has to say, I really wish the people in Washington would hear his plea because he is saying what we are all thinking. A-f*cking-men!!!
BTW I discovered these words of wisdom from a Julian Lennon Tweet, and if you think about it the singer’s father has written a few songs to go with Wooodman’s speech.

UPDATE: The rant is old, but still very relevant!

The beautiful face of strength, courage and inspiration!
June 12th, 2011 under Admirable People. [ Comments: none ]

On January 8th the world was shocked to hear that there was a mass shooting at a supermarket where a US Congresswoman was talking to her constituents. Initial reports said that Rep Gabrielle Giffords was killed in the shooting, but those reports were quickly denied as we learned the beautiful woman, inside and out, was shot in the head and was fighting for her life. Days after the shooting the world waited for updates on her condition that consisted of her holding her husband’s hand and telling him that she loved him. For the last five months we have only seen glimpses of her, but never her face. That is until now, when she bravely posted the first pictures of her smile since that horrible day on her Facebook.
On May 17th P.K. Weis of SouthwestPhotoBank.com, a longtime friend of Giffords went to visit her at TIRR Memorial Hermann Hospital and took the first pictures of her since that fateful day, upon her request. The day that these pictures were taken were special to her because it was the day after her husband launched in the Endeavor and the day before she had her cranioplasty. The photographer described that day in a statement and had this to say about his friend of over a decade, “It was very inspiring to see how much she had recovered in 4½ months. I was excited to see her and to see her smile. She was glad to see me, was in a good mood, smiling and laughing and seemed to enjoy the experience. I certainly did, too.”
Even though most of us have never met her, we feel the same way as Weis as we look at these pictures. We are inspired by her recovery in such a short time, and we are enjoying seeing a woman who has been through such hell looking so happy and smiling.
Whenever you are having a bad day, look at these pictures and let it give you hope that someone who was shot in the head could be doing so well and have a such a huge smile on her face just a few short months after such a harrowing experience. Your bad day probably can’t compare to that.
I really hope her recovery continues to do well because I can’t wait to see this admirable woman back at the House of Representatives and teach those Congressmen a thing or two about being admirable and caring about the people they represent!
Seriously Rep Gabrielle Giffords is my inspiration and I respect the sh!t out of her because of all she has done before and after that awful day.
