Wait, Supermarket Sweep is not filmed in a real supermarket?
October 1st, 2020 under ABC, Leslie Jones. [ Comments: none ]

On October 18th, Supermarket Sweep is back on ABC with Leslie Jones as the host. Since the show has not done any new episodes since 2003, they had to find a new supermarket to hold the sweep in. Well, as you can see, it is not a real supermarket, it is on a set.

Today, ABC released a video of them building the shopping store for the game show. Sadly, we learned that there is a reason why they say everything in Hollywood is fake.

The next thing I will find out, is that Superstore is not shot in an actual big box store. Oh wait, I know the answer to that one. It isn’t. And Big Brother is not filmed in a real house. See nothing in real.

What is real is that it is really cool to see them create the supermarket on a soundstage. Even if reality TV is fake. Welcome to LA!

ABC announces when their dramas will be back
September 17th, 2020 under ABC, Shonda Rhimes. [ Comments: none ]

ABC announced last week that we will finally get new epsiodes of their sitcoms starting on October 21st. Today, they revealed that their dramas will be back in November.

In case you are wondering, The Rookie was not cancelled like Stumptown. Instead, it will be back at a later date. I assume, they are saving it for American Idol, which would be a smart move.

MONDAY, NOV. 2
10:00-11:00 p.m. “The Good Doctor”

THURSDAY, NOV. 12
8:00-9:00 p.m. “Station 19”
9:00-11:00 p.m. “Grey’s Anatomy” (two-hour season premiere)

TUESDAY, NOV. 17
10:01-11:00 p.m. “Big Sky” (series premiere)

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 18
10:00-11:00 p.m. “For Life”

ABC stumps out Stumptown
September 17th, 2020 under ABC. [ Comments: none ]

Back in May, I was surprised that ABC picked up Stumptown for another season because it did not do that well in the ratings. That was then, today, the network cancelled the series that stars Cobie Smulders.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, they made the late decision reversal because of production delays due to the coronavirus pandemic, and creative differences with the way they were taking the show. They needed more time to come up with scripts that they big whigs approved of, and that would have delayed the show too long. Therefore, it was another casuality of COVID-19.

While ABC is no lonher movie forward with it, they are shopping around to see if someone else might be interested in it. Since it is part of the Disney family, maybe Hulu will save it.

ABC is starting off its fall with unscripted shows
August 27th, 2020 under ABC, Shark Tank. [ Comments: none ]

ABC announced its fall premiere dates, and all of the shows are unscripted. Just like every year, Dancing with the Stars starts things off on September 14th. However, that is all that is like the previous seasons.

MONDAY, SEPT. 14
8:00-10:00 p.m. “Dancing with the Stars” (previously announced)

THURSDAY, SEPT. 24
8:00-9:00 p.m. “Celebrity Family Feud”
9:00-10:00 p.m. “Press Your Luck”
10:00-11:00 p.m. “Match Game”

TUESDAY, OCT. 13
8:00-10:01 p.m. “The Bachelorette”

FRIDAY, OCT. 16
8:00-9:01 p.m. “Shark Tank”

SUNDAY, OCT. 18
7:00-8:00 p.m. “America’s Funniest Home Videos”
8:00-9:00 p.m. “Supermarket Sweep” (Series Premiere)
9:00-10:00 p.m. “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire”
10:00-11:00 p.m. “Card Sharks”

I find it interesting that they are holding their scripted shows because The Good Doctor, The Conners, The Goldbergs, and Grey’s Anatomy are all filming as you read this. I guess they are being cautious because The Bold & The Beautiful (the first scripted show to resume filming) has already had to take two breaks because of people testing positive for COVID-19 on the Soap Opera since they started filming again in June.

Over to Dancing with the Stars for a second. Today, they announced their first “star” who is dancing this season and it’s A.J. McLean from Backstreet Boys. If that is their biggest “star”, then they are in trouble.
