Yesterday was Mel Brooks’ 100th birthday, and he celebrated with those who are closest to him. The legendary man who brought us decades of laughter is still smiling, just as he did when he was making the movies that influenced generations of filmmakers, as he deserves to do.
Maybe it is because he is grinning from ear to ear, but he does not look as though he is a century years old, and according to his son, Max, “In perfect health with a razor sharp mind, celebrating with friends and family.”
Who knows, maybe he has at least one more movie in him. I think the world would appreciate one more of his comedies. And not just him lending his name to a sequel.
