Today is August 28th, and fans of the show Manifest will tell you today is 828 Day in honor of the fateful flight’s flight number, 828.

What is the best way to celebrate a day of something? With a gift, of course! And Netflix (who saved the show after NBC cancelled it) and Jeff Rake are doing just that. They announced that a new series is in the works, with a new mystery plane landing and a cast.

According to Deadline, Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery is about “when a mysterious plane crash-lands in Denver, the passengers emerge with no memory of who they are, where they came from, or why they’re here. A young social worker and a novice Homeland Security agent team up with the new arrivals in an attempt to stop a humanity-ending catastrophe, discovering along the way that they are all part of the very puzzle they’re trying to solve.”

“But the world of Manifest has more stories to tell. To now bring fans a brand-new mystery from that world is quite simply beyond my wildest dreams,” Rake told Deadline. “Arrivals co-creators and co-showrunners Laura Putney and Margaret Easley have been my trusted colleagues for over a decade. Their contribution to the Manifest mothership cannot be overstated. It was a no-brainer to make them my partners on this spinoff. Together we’ve set out to create something bold, surprising, deeply human, and full of the kind of big ideas that spark conversations long after the credits roll. We can’t wait for a whole new audience – and longtime Manifest fans – to discover Arrivals.”

There are two types of people when it comes to how they choose to remember Dolly Parton first. One chooses to remember the entertainer first. The other highlights her philanthropy.

Garth Brooks (and I) is the latter, and he is planning on honoring her by giving back.

The singer and his wife issued this statement: “Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood are honoring Dolly Parton in a way that celebrates both her remarkable life and her passion for helping children.

“Brooks and Yearwood’s Friends in Low Places Bar & Honky-Tonk will honor Parton on Sept. 25 by declaring the date ‘Dolly Day.’ The choice of 9/25 is a nod to Parton’s iconic hit ‘9 to 5.’ On that day, Friends in Low Places will donate its entire income for the day to children’s literacy. The couple plans to make ‘Dolly Day’ an annual event at FILP.”

So let’s all make September 25th, Dolly Parton Day, and donate $9.25 to Imagination Library. If we all do it, it will add up to a whole lot of books for the next generations to read.

I heard someone say that Miss Parton would have been a billionaire if she did not give so much of her money away to people and organizations in need. So, in a world full of Elon Musks and Donald Trumps (who hoard money), be a Dolly Parton because no one can take any of it with them when they die.

We can also honor her by working to make the world a better place, touching one person at a time with a smile and a laugh!
