BTWF: Chappell Roan in Springfield’s Got Talent
February 4th, 2025 under Before They Were Famous. [ Comments: none ]

Before Chappell Roan won a Grammy, she told the Springfield’s Got Talent presenter it was her goal to win one. How cute was Chappell Roan, I mean, Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, at 14 when she won the 2012 talent show?

Jelly Roll rolls onto American Idol
February 4th, 2025 under American Idol 9+, Jelly Roll. [ Comments: none ]

Jelly Roll’s career is on a roll, and now the singer found himself a new job.

After a successful appearance on American Idol last year, the singing competition has asked him back. Not for one episode, but several!

Roll will be the first Artist in Residence. According to Variety, that means he will be “a permanent fixture this season and will work closely with the Idol hopefuls, giving them firsthand advice on how to navigate the journey.”

The Grammy winner is going to Hollywood, as in that is the first time we will see him this season.

“Had to lift up @ryanseacrest just like I’m gonna lift up the @americanidol hopefuls! ,” he wrote. “Honored to be Idol’s first-ever ARTIST IN RESIDENCE—mentoring with heart, soul, and real experience! ”

Jelly is not the only new person on the long-running show. Carrie Underwood went from being a contestant on season 4 to being a judge on season 23.

So, I have to wonder if they brought him on because she is not working out, so they are bringing him in to give the program some excitement. Either that, or are Lionel Richie and/or Luke Bryan thinking of retiring from the series after this season like Katy Perry did last year?

Jelly Roll’s first appearance will be on March 9th.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps looks fantastic
February 4th, 2025 under Marvel Comics, Pedro Pascal. [ Comments: none ]

I have to admit that I am not the target audience for Superhero movies. However, after watching the trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, I actually want to see the film. And it is not because eye candy Pedro Pascal and Joseph Quinn are in it. Although, that does not hurt!

It is nice to see a movie in this genre that is not as dark as Batman’s suit. And yes, I know he is DC, and the Fantastic Four are Marvel.

Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Marvel’s First Family — Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Quinn), and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) — as they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.

First Steps walks into theaters on July 25th.

The Goonies come out to support Ke Huy Quan
February 4th, 2025 under Ke Huy Quan, The Two Coreys. [ Comments: none ]

Goonies never say die, and neither does their friendship.

Yesterday, Ke Huy Quan was honored by Grauman’s Chinese Theatre who asked him to leave his hands and feet in cement outside the movie theater. The Oscar winner wasn’t alone at the ceremony; he had some friends standing by his side. His friends of 40 years: Josh Brolin, Jeff Cohen, Kerri Green, Corey Feldman, and screenwriter Chris Columbus.

Will they finally be able to cement a sequel to their 1985 film? Who knows? But they would do it in a heartbeat if it was right.

What is also right is Quan’s movie Love Hurts, which comes out this Friday.

What does Final Destination’s Jeffrey Reddick think of trucks with projectiles?
February 4th, 2025 under The Final Destination. [ Comments: none ]

Ever since 2003, people have been afraid to drive behind a truck with objects that could possibly fly off and decapitate them, thanks to Final Destination 2.

Jeffrey Reddick, the man who wrote that scene that made driving a little more scarier, found himself by a van with metal ladders on its roof. What did he think? He wrote, “I laugh when I find myself in Final Destination situation. But my brain is also like…this would be GREAT publicity for the franchise. .”

And he has something to promote for the franchise because Final Destination Bloodlines is coming out on May 16th. What living nightmares will this film give us besides septum piercings?
