Good Cop, Bad Cop is light hearted police procedural
February 19th, 2025 under The CW. [ Comments: none ]

We are used to seeing police procedurals that are gritty and dark. And after a while, they become taxing on the soul.

So what if you like crime shows but want them to be less gritty and less dark with a little humor? Then you can watch Good Cop, Bad Cop on The CW on Wednesdays at 10p.

On tonight’s season premiere, the episode starts off with two different robbers trying to rob the same pharmacy at the same time. Only one of them gets out alive after a bad shootout.

Lou Hickman (Leighton Meester) is a detective in that small town where her father is the police chief.

There is not a lot of crime there because her dad, Big Hank, found a way around it. But that doesn’t mean there is no crime. And Lou needs help. So, Big Hank decided to bring in someone to help her.

Who is it? Her baby brother, Henry (Luke Cook). He is socially awkward, just like his relationship with his older sister.

Big Hank tells her she either has to work with him or no one at all. Thus, she begrudgingly agrees to train him and take him on as her partner. Not only that, but he also has to live with her.

Just like old times? Yes and no. They still fight like cats and dogs but are also trying to keep Eden Vale, Washington, safe.

Lou uses her instincts and experience to solve crimes while her brother prefers to use his book knowledge. Even if they are using two different styles of detective work, it helps them to solve the cases.

And they do this with heart and some laughs, mixed in with the right amount of crime solving.

Meester (unlike her Gossip Girl co-star) is likable in whatever role she takes on. And this is no exception.

Even though Cook is not supposed to be someone we like, we can’t help but fall in love with the big lug. By being so straight, he has a lot of comedic lines and actions to go with that Frankenstein stiffness.

Finally, there is Brown, who is that gruff father who wants his kids to get along and do their job. This way, he won’t have to do anything but sit behind his desk.

Yeah, this is going to be cliche, but I cannot say anything bad about Good Cop, Bad Cop. And I have not even mentioned how original the crimes are. So you are left guessing who and/or why until the end of each episode.

The Jennifer Hudson Show gets another season of Spirit Tunnels!
February 19th, 2025 under Jennifer Hudson. [ Comments: none ]

Jennifer Hudson had a great reason to walk through the Spirit Tunnel today because the talk show was picked up for a fourth season.

Hudson said: “It is an unbelievable privilege to spend your days being able to engage with inspiring people from all walks of life; to hear their stories and connect on shared experiences; and to hopefully leave audiences a little more joyful than when they arrived. This show is a testament to what happens when you do what you love, and when you do it alongside an unstoppable team who creates magic in new ways every single day. I’m so excited to take this adventure to new heights in season 4!”

Hopefully, they will continue to embrace the theme of Choose Joy, delivering heart, laughter, and inspiration because that is what differentiates J-Hud from the others.

Because of that theme and the Spirit Tunnels, the show has been finding more and more of an audience. In fact, they keep hitting season highs in viewership.

While that is on our TV sets, it is also growing with online audiences. On the digital landscape it has experienced record-breaking social growth at the start of its third season with followers up 103% and impressions soaring 627% to 777M. TikTok saw the highest surge, growing 119% to 5.6M followers, while Instagram rose 106% to 2M. Facebook climbed 70% to 2.4M. YouTube also saw growth, reaching 1.67M subscribers. The show’s signature viral “Spirit Tunnel,” a backstage ritual that warmly welcomes celebrity guests, has skyrocketed past 2B views. The digital momentum solidifies the show’s impact, driving engagement and cultural conversation across platforms.

The Price is Right is turning 10,000
February 19th, 2025 under The Price is Right. [ Comments: none ]

The Price is Right is celebrating a milestone that only a handful of shows can say that they have reached. The game show will be airing its 10,000th episode (Drew Carey’s 3,269th) on February 26th.

Contestants will “Come on down!” to play fan-favorite games with a 10,000 theme, including the popular “Grand Game” with a chance to win a $100,000 cash prize; “Any Number” where the piggy bank will be worth 10,000 times the normal value; and “Lucky Seven” played as “Lucky Ten” with ten $1 bills instead of the usual seven, giving a contestant an even greater chance at winning a new car.

In honor of the milestone, THE PRICE IS RIGHT is donating $10,000 to NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness for all they do to educate, support and advocate to improve the lives of the millions of Americans who are affected by mental illness. Host Drew Carey advocates for making mental health a priority as part of his signature sign-off at the end of each show.

The only shows that have hit this milestone are the Soap Operas Guiding Light, General Hospital, Days of our Lives, As the World Turns, The Young & the Restless, One Life to Live, and All My Children, and The Tonight Show.

Paul Simon comes out of retirement for some intimate gigs
February 19th, 2025 under Concerts/Tours. [ Comments: none ]

In 2018, Paul Simon revealed that he was retiring from the road due to severe hearing loss in his left ear. However, yesterday, he announced that he will play a few small dates starting on April 4th in New Orleans.

“It was during the recording of Seven Psalms, as revealed in the acclaimed In Restless Dreams documentary, that Simon began to steadily lose the hearing in his left ear which initially made extended live performances impossible,” the press release states. “Together with the Stanford Initiative to Cure Hearing Loss, and his own production team, Simon redesigned his entire stage set up to make performing viable. This included moving monitors to surround him.”

That is why the 83-year-old legendary singer is playing the smaller venues where the acoustics will work for him, and he will be able to set up the stage to accommodate his needs.

He was inspired to perform the songs from Grammy-nominated Seven Psalms live for the first time and has been rehearsing to give the audience the best show with those seven singles and other ones from his past.

I am hoping that he will be able to reunite with Art Garfunkel for a few gigs now that they are getting along again. That would be the greatest gift they could give their fans. Could you imagine?

The timing of Simon’s announcement was brilliant because we are still talking about his duet with Sabrina Carpenter of Homeward Bound to open Saturday Night Live’s 50th celebration on Sunday.

Tickets for A Quiet Celebration Tour go on sale on February 21st.

Paris Hilton’s son says his first bad word!
February 19th, 2025 under Paris Hilton. [ Comments: none ]

Paris Hilton had a moment a lot of moms can relate to. The socialite thought she was capturing a cute moment with her son, and she did. It was just not the one she was expecting.

Phoenix, 2, said his first swear word, “Fuck!” At first, she was not sure she heard it correctly. But she did. So, she did what any mother would do in the situation, and that was laugh! Phoenix did what any toddler would do, and he kept saying it as proudly as he could with a smile on his cute little face because he knows exactly what he said!

That is why they call it the terrible twos for a reason. Because that is what that year is!

Granted, that was my third word after tank you. But I was born and raised in The Bronx, and it is just part of our vernacular, like ma and da!
