The good news is that Matthew Gray Gubler is going to reprise his role on the upcoming season of Criminal Minds: Evolution. However, TV Line says that Dr. Spencer Read will only appear in part of one episode.
Gubler did not return to the sequel on Paramount+. His absence was explained that he was on an undisclosed assignment. Will we find out what that assignment was? We will just have to watch to find out.
