They Started on Soaps
Before Christine Ebersole ran a sock factory on Bob Hearts Abishola, she wanted to be a singer on One Life to Live. How beautiful was the 31-year-old in that 1984 episode?

The CW is bringing the laughs with Son of a Critch and Children Ruin Everything

I can’t say this enough. I love Canadian television! So I am loving that The CW is importing their shows. Tonight at 8p, we get to watch two of their comedies, Son of a Critch and Children Ruin Everything.

Son of a Critch starts the night off at 8p with two episodes and throws it back to the ’80s. Mark Critch (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) is getting ready to go to school for the first time, and it is middle school. He grew up in a small town, and there were no kids on his block. Not only that, he shares his room with his 80-year-old grandfather (Malcolm McDowell). So he is an old soul because he had no other choice but to be one.

As soon as he gets on the bus, the kids are all ready to make fun of him. And they do. They even continue to do so when he is in class. Luckily, there is another new kid, and the two of them become friends. He finally makes a friend who is his own age. And not his grandfather’s.

At home, he has his mom (Claire Rankin), who loves to gossip, but she is also supportive. His dad (Mark Critch) works on the local radio station. And then there is his cool older brother (Colton Gobbo), who doesn’t do much to help him.

But somehow, he will make it through the day. But it won’t be easy for him. Then again, was middle school easy for anyone?

What is easy is watching this sweet show with a bitching soundtrack.

This is the perfect series to watch as a family because it has a character for everyone.

Then at 9p, it is time to see how Children Ruin Everything.

Did you know that people without kids are happier than the ones who have them? That is what Astrid (Meaghan Rath), a former data analyst and now stay-at-home mom, tells us and then shows us.

Astrid and her husband, James (Aaron Abrams), have two young children. First, they welcomed Felix (Logan Nicholson) 7 years ago, and then three years later, they had his sister, Viv (Mikayla SwamiNathan).

They were used to having fun, but those days are long over because children ruin everything. But do they? As boring and chaotic as their lives are, there are a lot of good things to say about having kids.

This show has a unique way of showing that there are positives and negatives of having children. And we need more of that. Because that is reality, and it is funny to watch.

Corin Nemec is a married man
July 24th, 2023 under David Faustino/ Corin Nemec. [ Comments: none ]

A year ago, Corin Nemec went to Tampa to film a movie, and he met the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with when production used her house as a location for the feature.

So, he picked up his life and moved to Florida, bought a house, decided to make movies there, and proposed to his girlfriend, Sabrina Nova, a month ago.

This weekend, they tied The Knot, and their adventure begins as a family!

This is the actor’s second marriage. He was previously married to Jami Beth Schahn, and they have two children and a grandchild.

Congrats to the newlyweds. May their marriage always be hot as Tampa’s hottest day of the year? And may they always go at it like love bugs! Things I don’t miss about Florida.

The Boys spinoff Gen V looks bloody awesome
July 24th, 2023 under Prime Video. [ Comments: none ]

They say good things come to those who wait. And we are getting a good thing because we have been waiting patiently for the delayed The Boys spinoff Gen V.

Godolkin University is America’s only college exclusively for young-adult superheroes (run by Vought International). From the world of The Boys comes Gen V, which explores the training of the first generation of superheroes to know about Compound V, and that their powers were injected into them rather than God-given. These young, competitive heroes put their physical and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the school’s highly coveted top ranking. They quickly come to learn that ambition comes with sacrifice, and the difference between right and wrong is not as clear as they once believed. When the university’s dark secrets come to light, the students must come to grips with what type of heroes they are going to become.

The series stars Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, Shelley Conn, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sean Patrick Thomas, and Marco Pigossi.

Gen V comes to Prime Video with its first three episodes on September 29th.

Oh, look, it’s Frankie and Sue Heck from The Middle!
July 24th, 2023 under Patricia Heaton, The Middle. [ Comments: none ]

It has been five years since The Middle ended. And Patricia Heaton and Eden Sher still have the wonderful relationship they had on the heartwarming sitcom.

The TV mother and daughter met up in London over the weekend because Sher is performing her one-woman show I Was On A Sitcom at the Bill Murray Comedy Club.

Seeing the actresses together, makes me want a revival of their series even more. I don’t know why ABC hasn’t brought it back. What else do they have on their network?
