Ray Romano reveals how Everybody Loves Raymond got its name
April 19th, 2023 under Ray Romano. [ Comments: none ]

I don’t know about you, but I thought that Ray Romano named his sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond because he was so vain and thought everyone loves him. Well, I was wrong.

This morning when he was on Good Morning America, he told him that his brother, Richard, came up with that name, “My brother was a New York City police officer and he used to compare our lives. He would say, ‘I go to work. I get shot at. Raymond goes to work, and everybody loves Raymond.'”

Romano then told the anchors his brother meant it to be sarcastic, and the actor wasn’t a fan of it. However, the other producers liked it and used it as a working title. They promised Ray they wouldn’t use it if it got picked up to series.

Well, CBS loved it, and the rest is history.

So has Romano gotten to love the name after 27 years? “It works. I am not complaining. We did OK,” he said.

I hope Richard is being compensated for coming up with the title that has been heard around the world.

Will Trent is still on ABC’s case!
April 19th, 2023 under ABC. [ Comments: none ]

ABC has been pretty quiet on the renewal front, but they are breaking their silence. Abbott Elementary was picked up a while ago, as was Grey’s Anatomy. But then this week, they said they were sticking with The Rookie. And yesterday, ABC announced that Will Trent. will be back for a second season.

“It’s official!! Will Trent renewed for Season Two!! 🎉🎉,” the show’s star Ramón Rodríguez said. “Thank you to all the fans for your continued support of this special show! Thrilled and honored to continue to put on that three piece suit and thanks to our amazing cast, crew, writers, producers, directors and everyone involved for helping make this show what it is!! Thank you @karinslaughterauthor for creating this great book series. Betty… get ready!🕵️‍♂️🐕”

The procedural follows Will Trent (Rodríguez), a GBI detective with a knack for solving cases. Even though he doesn’t like having a partner, his boss (Sonja Sohn) assigns him to work with Faith (Iantha Richardson). This pairing should have every criminal in Georgia afraid because they are unstoppable.

And if they are not arresting you, then Trent’s girlfriend (Erika Christensen) and her partner (Jake McLaughlin), who are detectives with the police force will do it.

Trent and his girlfriend go back to their abusive days in foster care. Their bond is unbreakable, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t get tested all of the time.

And I should mention that the true star of the series is Betty, a toy chihuahua that wins over everyone’s heart!

Now that the show is back for another season, I hope they sneak in an episode based on Cocaine Bear because the GBI investigated that case.

If you are not watching, you are missing out on the best new procedural of the year. This is the only show I have watched when I donate platelets. That means it gets my full attention because I don’t want to miss a single clue.

Big Mac sauce cups coming to McDonald’s
April 19th, 2023 under Fast Food. [ Comments: none ]

File this under what took them so long. Today McDonald’s announced that they will be selling Big Mac sauce cups for a limited time starting on April 27th.

You can either get it for free when you order chicken McNuggets or pay to get it à la carte to dip your fries or anything else in. However, you can only order it via the app.

The dipping sauce cups are blue and silver in honor of the original wrapping the famous hamburger came in when it was introduced in 1968.

I hope this does so well that McDonald’s makes this a permanent option. After all, they owe us for taking away the McRib. I am still pissed about that.

Netflix is ending this service
April 18th, 2023 under Netflix. [ Comments: none ]

On March 10, 1998, Netflix changed the home video game when they snail-mailed out a DVD of Beetlejuice. Since then, over 5 billion DVDs have been sent out to their subscribers. But on September 29th, that is all coming to an end. That is because Netflix announced today that they are ending the service.

Who knew it was still in existence? But it is. And will be for another five months. And then we will be forced to watch movies on our televisions, phones, tablets, and computers via Netflix’s streaming service like we have been doing since 2007.

Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos said, “We feel so privileged to have been able to share movie nights with our DVD members for so long, so proud of what our employees achieved and excited to continue pleasing entertainment fans for many more decades to come.”

Isn’t that what Blockbuster said before Netflix acquired them? Just saying.

What was the best DVD you rented from Netflix, and why?
