RIP Irene Cara

Irene Cara passed away at the age of 63, according to a statement written by her publicist.

Irene Cara started off the 1980s telling us to remember her name, and we did. Even though she retired at an early age, we never forgot her name, her music, or her roles.

Before she had Fame at the age of 20, she spent the ’70s on Broadway, on Electric Company, and in Sparkle, along with so much more. But then came Fame, followed up a few years later with even more of it when she sang the theme song to Flashdance, What a Feeling. And what a feeling she had when she won the Oscar and a Grammy for the emotional rollercoaster of a single.

Those are just two of the many, many, many songs she released throughout her career. Songs that make you want to get up and dance, or they make you want to cry. If you tried to sing along with her, you would have to be prepared to belt out the tune. However, you could never come close to singing as beautifully as she did. Ask Mariah Carey.

To this day, I will never understand why no one asked her and Kenny Loggins to do a duet for a movie in the ’80s because they were the King and Queen of that era and genre.

So today, we say “Long live the Queen” by singing her music and watching her movies. Let her hear our voices as she makes her way up to heaven.

I can never thank her enough for all the amazing music she blessed us with throughout her life that was cut way too short.

Flossie, almost 27, is the World’s Oldest Living Cat
November 25th, 2022 under Animals, Guinness World Records. [ Comments: none ]

In less than two months, Flossie is going to celebrate her 27th birthday. Why is that a big deal? Because Flossie is a cat, and no other feline has been recorded to live as long as her. Because of that, Guinness World Records has declared she is World’s Oldest Living Cat.

Flossie is newly adopted by Vicki Green. The cat was originally adopted as a kitten in 1995, but her mother passed away ten years later. The owner’s sister took the kitty in until she passed away 14 years after her sister. Then that woman’s son decided to bring the feline home. However, after a couple of years, he did not feel that he could take care of Flossie, who is now deaf and going blind. So he brought her into Cats Protection, who knew that Vicki would be the purrfect mom for Flossie’s final years.

Vicki is ensuring that her new best friend will have the best life possible, so she is spoiling her with love and food. Because what else does a cat want?

While Flossie is the oldest living cat, she is not the oldest cat to have lived. That title goes to Creme Puff, who lived from August 3, 1967, until August 6, 2005. 38 years old is going to be a nearly impossible record to break, as much as we would love our cats to live that long.

Gino, 22, is the World’s Oldest Living Dog
November 25th, 2022 under Animals, Guinness World Records. [ Comments: none ]

The Guinness Book of World Records has a new Oldest Dog Living as of November 15th, and his name is Gino. The Chihuahua and Eskimo mix turned 22 in September, and he lives in Los Angeles.

Gino’s best friend and dad, Alex Wolf, said, “I’ve taken great care of him over the years and he is still in relatively very good shape…and really cute still which is surprising considering his age!”

He is really cute, and I hope he has many more years ahead of him!

Al Roker got home from the hospital just in time for Thanksgiving
November 24th, 2022 under TV News. [ Comments: none ]

Al Roker spent the last two weeks in the hospital recovering from blood clots that traveled from his leg to his lungs. Today, he was set free just in time for Thanksgiving dinner. So you can say that the Today show meteorologist has a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. Primarily for being alive and recuperating!

Hopefully, he will continue to do so quickly and back do weather on the morning news show as soon as he can.

Denny’s is giving away a meal a deal for a year for the price of a shirt
November 24th, 2022 under Fast Food. [ Comments: none ]

Denny’s came up with a creative way to celebrate Black Friday. For the price of $5.99, you can buy a shirt that will allow you to get an Everyday Value Slam every day for a year. That is a value of $2,186.

The Everyday Value Slam comes with two buttermilk pancakes, a slice of french toast, a biscuit with gravy, two eggs, and two slices of bacon or sausage links. I recently ordered one when T-Mobile gave one away for free, and it is delicious.

So, if this sounds as tempting to you as it does me, then you better hope to be one of the 150 people who gets one at 12m EST tonight at DinerDrip.com.
