Just when I thought that Guy Ritchie could never do a movie worse than Swept Away, I found out he can. That film will be the live-action version of Aladdin that is coming out on May 24th.
Instead of going to see this movie Memorial Day Weekend, we should watch the cartoon version and memorialize Robin William as the Genie. Who wants to see Will Smith prove to us he should not be a member of the Blue Man Group?
The difference between Williams and Will is Robin could do many different characters and Smith can only do one. That is why we adored the Genie so much. Who wants to watch Smith be himself throughout the movie? They should have gone with Eddie Murphy or one of the Wayans. At least they would be more entertaining than Smith.
I will say something positive. At least we know Smith will be all over the Razzie Awards.

Even though Diana Ross was in the audience and Gladys Knight did an amazing rendition of the American Anthem at the Super Bowl last week, The Grammys asked Jennifer Lopez to do a tribute to Motown. The only artist from the label that performed with her was Smokey Robinson. Where was Stevie Wonder? Where was Lionel Richie? Where were the Supremes? Where were the Jacksons? We would rather see the original artists and not a girl from The Bronx who knows nothing about Detroit? Which is why I have not watched the show in decades.
Last Sunday, Kristoff St. John passed away suddenly. His character, Neil Winters, was still a part of The Young & the Restless, which means the daytime drama has to figure out what to do with his character. On Friday, they announced how they will handle the actor’s death.
Y&R wrote, “The Young and the Restless will forever value the legacy of Kristoff St. John in his portrayal of Neil Winters. Beginning in late April, Y&R will feature a storyline that pays tribute to both Kristoff and his character.”
The reason why it will take so long to deal with his passing is that TV soaps tape so far in advance.
