Scarlett Johansson will not be playing a transgender man afterall
July 13th, 2018 under Scarlett Johannsson. [ Comments: none ]

A few weeks after Scarlett Johansson was criticized for playing a transgender man, she released a statement to Out saying she quit her role in Rub & Tug.

“In light of recent ethical questions raised surrounding my casting as Dante Tex Gill, I have decided to respectfully withdraw my participation in the project. Our cultural understanding of transgender people continues to advance, and I’ve learned a lot from the community since making my first statement about my casting and realize it was insensitive. I have great admiration and love for the trans community and am grateful that the conversation regarding inclusivity in Hollywood continues. According to GLAAD, LGBTQ+ characters dropped 40% in 2017 from the previous year, with no representation of trans characters in any major studio release. While I would have loved the opportunity to bring Dante’s story and transition to life, I understand why many feel he should be portrayed by a transgender person, and I am thankful that this casting debate, albeit controversial, has sparked a larger conversation about diversity and representation in film. I believe that all artists should be considered equally and fairly. My production company, These Pictures, actively pursues projects that both entertain and push boundaries. We look forward to working with every community to bring these most poignant and important stories to audiences worldwide.”

It is not like she has played a role that is different than who she was born as before. Oh wait, that is right, she played an Asain woman in Ghost in the Shell. She needs to stick to play characters like herself, an unlikable person.

Conan O’Brien buys his assistant a car!
July 13th, 2018 under Conan O'Brien. [ Comments: none ]

Conan O’Brien’s assistant Sona Movsesian needed a new car, so the TBS host decided to take her car shopping. Since he is too famous to be seen in public, they shopped for it together on AutoTrader.com.

After searching and searching for the perfect car, he finally found the right one for her. He bought it for Sona and gave it to her on air. Yes, he bought her a car, but he bought her that car.

Luckily, she has access to his financial records so she can buy the car that she wants. And she better get the one that is listed for almost $2 million.

Abby Lee Miller is back filming
July 13th, 2018 under Dance Moms. [ Comments: none ]

A year to the date after Abby Lee Miller started serving her jail sentence in federal prison, she began filming something yesterday in her hospital room. It is widely assumed it is for Dance Moms season 8 since the other day it was revealed that there is a listing that they are looking for dancers between 7-12 to be on the new season.

The callbacks are not until September, so we do not know why they are filming now. Maybe they are doing a special about her battle with cancer. I am sure we will find out soon enough because she breaks things on social media before Lifetime tells us what is going on.

Did you know Wookies have a Chewbaccapella group?
July 13th, 2018 under Conan O'Brien, Star Wars. [ Comments: none ]

Conan O’Brien is heading to San Diego Comic-Con and he got his favorite A Capella group to perform a number on his show. They are Chewbaccapella and they performed an old Irish melody for the host. Their version of Danny Boy left us saying, “Oh Danny boy, I love you so!”

The thing I love about Conan is that he is willing to let a bit be as stupid as it needs to be to get a laugh!
