Before Mandy Patinkin was the lead Grim Reaper on Dead Like Me, he was a teen angel who drank 7UP. Isn’t it nice to a see a different side of the actor from when he was 21 back in 1970?

Ever since Tom Cruise confirmed that he was making a sequel to Top Gun, we have all wanted to know if Val Kilmer was going to be in it too. Well, today The Wrap is reporting that Iceman and Maverick will be reunited in the upcoming movie.
The blond actor has neither confirmed or denied the report. In fact, we know very little about Top Gun: Maverick. All we do know is that it began production last week. It is as top secret as whatever mission they are on.
Now that we know that Iceman is going to be in it, what about Goose’s (Anthony Edwards) ghost?
Doing a high five seems pretty easy. We teach babies how to do it at a very young age and they have no problem learning the lesson. Therefore, you would think everyone can do it. Right?
Well, Cate Blanchett cannot do one to save her life. A little factoid we learned on Live with Kelly and Ryan today. The Oscar winner tried to high five Kelly Ripa and almost missed. Thankfully the morning show host knows the secret to the perfect high five. It is all in the elbow. Look at the person’s elbow as you both try to connect hands and you will never miss.
How did Blanchett do? She missed, but that is because she did not talk to the elbow. When her eyes looked down, it worked. Thus, if she can do it, then anyone can do it. The next time she wins an Oscar, she will be all ready to high five everyone that offers one. That is if she remembers the trick.
Does the trick work? Try it for yourself to find out.
Shawn Mendes was on The Late Late Show yesterday and James Corden wanted to know if he has ever been set up on dates. The singer said he has not. That is when Mandy Patinkin told him if he meets a girl that does not know who he is, then he should marry her.
Patinkin knows about love because he has been married to the same woman 38 years. The Homeland actor revealed it was love at first sight, but he did not start dating her until the play they were in was over. That is because before that he was in a play and dated this woman who played his lover. He was head over heels for her and then she dumped him 6 weeks into a four-month production. Talk about awkward. You cannot blame him for not wanting to go through that again.
Back to his wife, when the show, that they were in, was over, he took her out to brunch and told her they were going to get married. She said she was he going to get hurt. Now almost 40 years later, she has yet to hurt him.
But wait, where is that love advice you said he had? On their first date, he gave her some yellow button mums. Why not roses? He explained, “That is my simple advice for people just starting out. Pick a cheap flower so you can afford it all through your life.” Which is very sweet. Because no matter whether the times are good or bad financially, he will always be able to bring home your flower. I would cherish that more than a dozen red roses. Well, if we married. When we are dating, I would want to dump the cheap bastard.
Ladies and gentleman, what do you think of that love tidbit?
It seems like we have been hearing about A Star is Born for like ever, and now we are getting our first glance of the movie that comes out on October 5th. The movie that stars Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga is a remake of the 1976 film that starred Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson which was a remake of the 1954 one with Judy Garland and James Mason which was a remake of the original one that came out in 1937.
Therefore, this is a movie that has pretty much be done for every generation with one of the greatest singing voices of that generation. This time it is Lady Gaga. They tried to make her look like a plain Jane, but I think it is the best she has ever appeared. Soon we will find out if she is as good as she looks in the film that I am sure will get a lot of Oscar noms with barely any wins.
When it comes to the feature in general, it feels like a very ’70s Rock’n’Roll movie. One we have seen before as in The Rose and The Jazz Singer. Which to me now are something I would watch on a rainy Saturday afternoon on TV. Is that good thing, yes and no. Yes, I was to see it, but not in a movie theater. Unless it was an old school one that looks like art house, has uncomfortable seats and goes completely dark. This just does not feel like something was made for 2018, it feels very 1978 when Rock’N’Roll and Disco were battling out on the music scene and on the big screen.
