The three Carrie movies side-by-side
February 26th, 2018 under Stephen King. [ Comments: none ]

Even though the 1976 version of Carrie with Sissy Spaceck was perfect that did not stop Hollywood from remaking it not once but two more times. The second version hit the airwaves in 2002 and then 9 years later it was back on the big screen again.

Matt Skuta brilliantly combined the three films in a nearly 13 minute video to show us how alike and different the three versions are. As technology advanced, you would think it would get scarier. It did not. The first one still looks like the best of the trio. The last one was by far the worst. There was nothing about it that made me want to reach my arm out from the ground to see it again. When it comes to the original, I have seen it more times than Carrie has fingers on both of her hands. It really holds up well.

Now, I have to find the TV movie version because I think Rena Sofer looks like she was a better coach than Betty Buckley. Sorry Miss Buckley.

The Seaver boys from Growing Pains do dinner!
February 26th, 2018 under Reunions, Tracey Gold. [ Comments: none ]

It has been 25, yes 25, years since Growing Pains ended, but TV brothers Jeremy Miller and Kirk Cameron are still friends after all of these years. So much so, they got together yesterday in Manhattan and ate some poutine for dinner. Something Mike Seaver introduced his little TV brother to when they filmed the reunion movie back in 2000.

When it comes to maybe doing a revival of the show, Miller did not say anything about them talking about one. Although, he did say they were talking about their late TV father Alan Thick, who passed away a year ago, and that they still missing him.

Now, let’s talk about them doing a revival. It so has Netflix or Disney Channel written all over it, so what are they waiting for? Would you watch it?

UPDATE: All of the Seaver children reunited on Today with Kathie Lee and Hoda this morning. Did you know that Tracey Gold was not the original Carol Seaver in the pilot? But they brought her back, and the rest is TV history.

UPDATE 2: Kirk Cameron has been busy working on a documentary that helps parents to talk to their kids about social media. Connect is in 750 theaters tonight at 7p and parents with kids under 21 need to see it. Hire a babysitter and gets tickets to see Connect today. It is your only chance to see it in theaters.

February 26th, 2018 under Heather Locklear. [ Comments: none ]

Heather Locklear’s brother showed up to her house last night and TMZ says he called police on her because she was fighting with her boyfriend. The site adds that when the police got there, they noticed a mark on her boyfriend. Then as they were trying to take her in, she reportedly became combative, flailing, kicking and struck 3 of the deputies. Before bringing her in to be booked, it is said they stopped by the hospital for her to be evaluated.

When she finally arrived at the station, she was booked felony domestic violence and 3 counts of misdemeanor battery on an officer. She was released about 5:30 this morning and her next court date in on March 13th according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.

In recent years she has been plagued with problems, she has been arrested and in rehab a few times. Hopefully this will be the wake up call, it sounds like, she needs.

UPDATE: Isn’t her mugshot perfect!

UPDATE: Her boyfriend was arrested just before 1a on suspicion of DUI. According to TMZ, Chris Heisser was seen driving slowly on the 101, pulled over and reportedly failed a sobriety test. He was booked and released shortly after the arrest. No word if Heather and him went home together from jail.

Kevin Smith came close to finding out if Gd looks like Alanis Morissette
February 26th, 2018 under Kevin Smith. [ Comments: none ]

Kevin Smith was doing 2 shows yesterday in Glendale when he noticed he was not feeling well during the 1st show. He did not screw around, so he went to hospital. Good thing he did because if he didn’t, he would not be alive right now. He explained what happened on Instagram:

I was trying to do a killer standup special this evening but I might’ve gone too far. After the first show, I felt kinda nauseous. I threw up a little but it didn’t seem to help. Then I started sweating buckets and my chest felt heavy. Turns out I had a massive heart attack. The Doctor who saved my life at the #glendale hospital told me I had 100% blockage of my LAD artery (also known as “the Widow-Maker” because when it goes, you’re a goner). If I hadn’t canceled the second show to go to the hospital, the Doc said I would’ve died tonight. For now, I’m still above ground! But this is what I learned about myself during this crisis: death was always the thing I was most terrified of in life. When the time came, I never imagined I’d ever be able to die with dignity – I assumed I’d die screaming, like my Dad (who lost his life to a massive heart attack). But even as they cut into my groin to slip a stent into the lethal Widow-Maker, I was filled with a sense of calm. I’ve had a great life: loved by parents who raised me to become the individual I am. I’ve had a weird, wonderful career in all sorts of media, amazing friends, the best wife in the world and an incredible daughter who made me a Dad. But as I stared into the infinite, I realized I was relatively content. Yes, I’d miss life as it moved on without me – and I was bummed we weren’t gonna get to make #jayandsilentbobreboot before I shuffled loose the mortal coil. But generally speaking, I was okay with the end, if this was gonna be it. I’ve gotten to do so many cool things and I’ve had so many adventures – how could I be shitty about finally paying the tab. But the good folks at the Glendale hospital had other plans and the expertise to mend me. Total strangers saved my life tonight (as well as my friends @jordanmonsanto & @iamemilydawn, who called the ambulance). This is all a part of my mythology now and I’m sure I’ll be facing some lifestyle changes (maybe it’s time to go Vegan). But the point of this post is to tell you that I faced my greatest fear tonight… and it wasn’t as bad as I’ve always imagined it’d be. I don’t want my life to end but if it ends, I can’t complain. It was such a gift. #KevinSmith

It sounds like not only will he go through physical lifestyle changes, he went through some mental ones too. I would not be surprised if he does a movie about it and I will be there on opening day. His movies, with all of their humor, have a lot heart. Imagine what he could do with his story. Which he will do because he will be better soon and back touring the country with his unique humor!
