Not only did he tell them it is I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas by Gayla Peevey, he also sang part of the song for them like he was that 10-year-old girl belting it out back in 1953. Who knew he could hit those notes, but turns out he can. Now I wish I had phonograph player to play his album Noel in 45 rpm, just so I can hear him sing Little Drummer Boy in that higher voice. Pa rum pum pum pum!
On that note, the singer said that the best Christmas gift he got as a little boy was a drum set. Which makes that song even more fitting for his Christmas album.
