Noah Solloway (Dominic West) is a happily married to Helen (Maura Tierney), they have four children and he’s a NYC teacher whose life about to change on a summer family trip to his father-in-law’s in Montauk, NY. Tonight at 10p on Showtime he begins The Affair with Alison Lockhart (Ruth Wilson) whose married to Cole Lockhart (Joshua Jackson) and they recently lost a kid.
For the first half hour, we will hear Noah’s story on how he met his mistress. Then for the second part of the show we find out how Alison remembers it. They each tell their tales to a cop. Why they are there we will find out soon, but what happened will come later so we will have to tune in ever week to find out.
A few weeks ago at the Showtime TCA Summer Press Tour Day Sarah Treem explained why the series is told as a he said/she said.
Oh, it doesn’t matter to me. I don’t think it lessens the experience to know going in. I mean, we’re really interested in telling a story in a kind of Rashmomon structure, because I think storytelling in general is driven by perspective, and there are two sides at least, to every story. And so we wanted to tell a story that was going to kind of capitalize on a different perspective, and so we were thinking about how to structure a story like that, and we thought a love affair would be the way to do it. And then, and an affair seemed to be kind of like a love affair on steroids. So when you’re having an affair, you’re you know, you’re never privy to what your lover is thinking, even if you’re married to them. But when you’re having an affair, you don’t even have access to what your lover is experiencing when you’re not around. There’s this whole other world that they inhabit that you never get to see. So for the characters, that felt like kind of the richest situation to put them in if we really wanted to tell a story from two perspectives and really kind of play around to like how differently people can experience the same situation.
Adding – There will be a point in the series where you start to see another perspective, and you could perhaps assume that that perspective was the absolute truth, but I think that perspective will turn out to be unreliable as well. I mean, I don’t think about it so much as unreliability. I just think about it as perspective. There will be times where their perspectives match much more closely as we go farther than they’re lining up right now, because they’re going back to basically the beginning now. The way I sort of thought about it is sort of an epic storytelling structure where we start in the middle and then we go back to the beginning and then we push through all the way to the end. So we’ll get closer basically to the paths will crash into the present at one point.
As we know Ellen DeGeneres likes to scare people, so the producers of Annabelle sent her the doll from the movie to scare people around her office. Well the daytime talk show host took them up on their offer and scared her producer Andy with it over and over again. Did he build an immunity to it or did she scare him time and time again? You just have to watch this funny video to find out.
BTW I really hope they sell that doll in stores because I would so love to own one. She would go great with my Chucky, Freddy Krueger and Jason Vorhees dolls!
Queer As Folk’s Scott Lowell was adopted as a baby and during the turn of the century he decided he wanted to find his birth family. What he found out is that searching for them as an adult is not that easy. So about two years ago he decided that he wanted to make a webseries about that experience called Adoptable. Since he wants control over it, the actor is doing it all by himself. That means he needs money to make his dream a reality, and he is asking you for the dough via IndieGoGo. If you contribute a certain amount of money to the project, then you can even get a spoken line in the series or be listed as an Executive Producer of it. Not a bad deal.
So what is the Adoptable about? Lowell plays Scott Fishman an actor who stars in the hit show, Cops & Bottoms with Jerry O’Connell (Jerry O’Connell). He recently got engaged to Lisa Crane (Emily Swallow) and with her urging he decides find his birth parents. Being an actor, he has the means to make a documentary about his search. That film is the mockumentary that we get to watch in all of the webisodes. It will show off his adventures of trying to find his parents along with the help from intermediary Mary Elizabeths (Sharon Gless). We will have to watch all of webisodes to find out if he actually finds the people who gave him life.
This webseries sounds like something everyone can enjoy, especially people that were adopted and have been through what he has been through. Maybe by telling his story, it will make it easier for adopted adults to find their natural parents. That would be a great accomplishment. But that can only happen with your help, so contribute what you can via IndieGoGo. Let’s make this dream a reality.
Crackle announced today that David Spade and Fred Wolf are re-teaming to finally bring us another Joe Dirt movie. Joe Dirt 2 has been 13 years in the making and it will be the first made-for-digital sequel to a major motion picture.
Fans of the cult classic will be happy to know that it picks up where the first one left off. On that note when Spade was asked how he felt about doing it, he said, “I’ve been sleeping in this wig for years and it will be nice to wear it in the daytime again.†So in short, you can part a mullet from a man, but you can’t part a man from his mullet.
You also can’t part fans from Joe Dirt and that is why we are finally getting this much desired follow-up.
Now that we are getting sequels to movies online, which fan favorite should be next?
