Hawaii Five-0 remembers the internment camps on Oahu |

December 7th was the 72nd anniversary of Pearl Harbor and tonight at 9p on CBS Hawaii Five-0 takes a look back at what happened after the attack.
While attending a Pearl Harbor memorial event, McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) notices an elderly Japanese man take a gun out of his jacket and aim at one of the surviving soldiers from that day. McGarrett stops the man before he can fire a shot and arrests him. When they get back to station, McGarrett asks why he was going to shoot that man and the elderly man explains that he murdered his father at one of the internment camps on Oahu.
At that moment, the man tells his story and we get flashbacks to the days when the Japanese people were being held prisoners because of where they came from. You will see them being dragged from the normal lives and being treated like cattle as they enter the camps. You will hear what people did to get out of there and what it was like to live there.
After McGarrett hears his story, he decides to look into this case that is over 70 years old. He is determined to find the man who murdered that man’s father. Little by little he gets more information about what happened on that day and what we get is information about an atrocity we forget about.
Hawaii Five-0 does an excellent job reminding us what happened in Hawaii 7 decades ago in this very powerful episode that everyone should watch. They say history repeats itself and let’s hope it never repeats the internment camps.
This episode is so special to Daniel Dae Kim, that he wrote this message about it.
Networks often talk about “very special episodes,” but episode 410 of HAWAII FIVE-0 is deserving of that description. Rarely do police dramas delve into subjects like the internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II, but this small and shameful chapter in our history is one that reminds us all of a valuable lesson: that we can never measure an American’s patriotism solely by their appearance or ancestry. I’ve never been prouder of HAWAII FIVE-0, and I applaud our producers for tackling a topic that goes beyond a crime of the week. It is my sincere hope that you find this episode, highlighted by some remarkable performances, as special as we do.
I have to say it is one of the most special episodes that I have seen in a long time, and I, like him, hope you watch it tonight at 9p on CBS.

Christmas gets a little Grimm tonight! |
December 13th, 2013 under Sean Hayes. [ Comments: none ]

Tonight at 9p Grimm ends its winter run with a 2 great new episodes and both will leave you with nightmares.
If you grew up in NYC, then the first episode will have a special meaning for you. Remember when you were a kid and you heard that alligators lived in the sewers? Well tonight on Grimm they take on that myth and you will never want to go down into your local sewers ever again. Not that you ever wanted to in the first place, but after watching this urban legend come to life, you’ll be avoiding them like the plague.
Then at 10p Grimm gives new meaning to the naughty and nice list that Santa Claus keeps. When teenagers, who have been very naughty suddenly go missing, Nick (David Giuntoli) and Hank (Russell Hornsby) have to find out what happened to them. Turns out the legend of Krampus is true and they have to find the teens before it is too late. Will they be able to find where he has been hiding them before it is too late?
You will just have to tune in for two of hours of television that are absolutely perfect for Friday the 13th!
Now some of you may be saying that these episodes do not focus on stories that are part of the Grimm Fairytales and you would be right. Earlier this week I was on a conference call with the show’s star, David Giuntoli, and he talked about that. He explained that as the show and his character, Nick, grow “that some of these other phenomena that take place in the world haven’t yet been added to the book of fairy tales, but they are being added by Nick now.” Then he added, “So we are taking other myths and folklore and otherwise just kind of stories that have been told and putting the little Grimm spin behind them now, so I enjoy that.” He concluded that thought by saying that he likes it and I have to add that we the viewers agree with him. Seeing the scary bedtime stories we grew up with come to life on the small screen, terrifies us but we also enjoy felling that fear all over again.
And here are two little facts about tonight’s episode that he shared with us. They actually filmed part of the first episode in a sewer under Portland. When it comes to the second episode, when Giuntoli saw Derek Mears in his full Krampus makeup, he was actually frightened by him. So if an actor can be afraid of another actor, then you know that the episode is going to be scary good. So tune in or the Grimm will get you!

Emma Thompson flashed Jason Schwartzman |

Jason Schwartzman was a guest on The Late Late Show yesterday and he told Craig Ferguson a story about Emma Thompson when he was filming Saving Mr Banks. One day Bradley Whitford, BJ Novak and him were filming a scene where they had to look shocked and she gave them a shock they weren’t expecting. The Golden Globe winning actress opened up her robe and showed them her golden globes. Although they were covered by handmade Mickey Mouse pasties. So to this day, whenever Schwartzman thinks about Mickey Mouse he sees breasts and when he sees breasts he thinks of Mickey Mouse. Which makes sense because that is what the Disney character’s ears look like in way!

Jimmy Kimmel was very naughty to a cute little girl! |

Yesterday on Jimmy Kimmel Live the ABC late night host had another holiday edition of Lie Detective and this time he was trying to tell if the kid was naughty or nice. The subject was an awwwdorable 6 year old girl named Taylor and he was so mean to her. When she told him a cute story about how the reindeer left some big poop outside the house she was staying at last Christmas, he told her it was actually Santa Claus who left it there. You can see the innocence being taken away from her as he told her that. And that was only the beginning of him ruining things for this sweet child who was believing everything he was telling her.
I am sure Santa Claus was watching this before he went to bed and immediately put Kimmel on his naughty list.
