American Idol is down big time in the ratings and The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the show was prepared to have Jennifer Lopez replace Mariah Carey midseason to get people watching again. Then the mag added that when Mimi heard about the plot, she threatened legal action and as you know she is still on the show. A Fox rep, Nigel Lythgoe and Freemantle North America all denied the story, but the source says that Fox reality chief Mike Darnell and Fremantle’s Cecile Frot-Coutaz were behind the plan.
If those two people really thought that that was the solution to their ratings woes, then they obviously are so out of touch with what the problem is. Viewers are suffering from singing competition fatigue. Plus the show is not about the judges, it’s supposed to be about the contestants. Fox gets more press over who will be sitting at the judging table leading up to the show, that by the time it airs you just don’t care any more. Plus didn’t they learn already with Kara DioGuardi that 4 judges is too many for the show. When you spend more time on the judges’ comments than the contestant’s singing, then it’s not working.
If Fox wants to save Idol, they need to announce next year’s judges in June and spend the time leading up to the show on the contestants who will be on it. They also need to go back to three judges. And the one thing that would really really help them is cancel The X Factor. The network was their own worst enemy by picking up and continuing with that show. There are just too many singing shows and after awhile they all just seem the same. I mean that is why I gave up all of those variety competition shows. Been there, done that!
Now when it comes to J-Lo, I wouldn’t be surprised that she started the rumor because she has probably realized she needs Idol, more than Idol needs her! It helps you career when you are on it, but when you are off of it it doesn’t do anything for you.
Steve Martin has been on The Late Show more times than we can count, but tonight he tried to get out of his appearance. Instead of calling it in before the show started taping, he tried to do it after he sat down on the couch. He apologized to David Letterman that he was unable to be on the show because he was in Europe. Then he got up and walked out, but one of the staffers from the CBS show stopped him and he miraculously made it back from overseas before you could say that he is a wild and crazy guy.
Before Dana Delaney was solving crimes on Body of Proof, she needed someone to solve a crime that happened to her on Moonlighting. She looks the same now as she did when she was 29 in that 1985 episode.

If you love fast food and don’t want to stop eating it, then The Doctors gives you a reason why you might want to reconsider ever gobbling it down again. On July 7, 1999 David Whipple says he bought a hamburger from McDonald’s to show his friends how enzymes work. He wanted them to see what the burger would look as the days and weeks went on. Then a short time afterwards he forgot about it and left it in his coat pocket. Then his wife found the coat and hung it up. They completely forgot about it for a few years and then when they found it they were shocked that it still looked as good as the day he brought it home. Well he still has the burger and the daytime talk show showed us what it looks like today after almost 14 years; and minus the poor pickle that has completely disintegrated it looks like a fresh burger you would get from the chain right now.
I don’t know about you, but after watching that I will not be eating any fast food burgers again. Well at least until the McRib is back because I can never say no to one of those. Seriously how scary is it that the burger and the bread still look the same today as it did in 1999?
Hey Doomsday Preppers, Maybe instead of stocking up on canned foods, you should be loading up McDonald’s, Burger King, Taco Bell, Jack in the Box, Carls Jr and so on… It will taste a lot better than Campbell’s Soup, when the day you have been prepping for finally happens.
