ABC has made the stupid mistake of cancelling Cougar Town, but don’t worry because the smart TBS made to decision to pick it up. Courtney Cox and her drinking buddies will move to their new cul-de-sac early next year and they have signed a two year lease with their new home.
Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TBS, TNT and Turner Classic Movies (TCM) said, “Cougar Town is a smart, whimsical sitcom that draws its humor from likable, relatable characters.” Something ABC never promoted the show as. Actually they never really promoted it and that was the major problem. The other one is the show’s name. So I wonder if now that the show has a new network, if it will also get a name?
This is not the first show or person to jump from a network to the Turner cable channels, Conan O’Brien has been successful for TBS and SouthLAnd just got picked up for another season on TNT 2 seasons after NBC didn’t think it was worthy of one. So I think Cougar Town is really going to enjoy its new home and I am sure Bill Lawrence will finally get the much needed respect he deserves.
Nina Dobrev was guest on Conan O’Brien yesterday and she did something that made her his favorite guest ever. The Vampire Diaries beauty used the TBS late night host as wall while she demonstrated a Yoga move called the Scorpion. Basically he stood there as she did a headstand and ran her feet down to his crotch area. By the looks of it actually touching him down there and that left his face as red as his hair. When she came up, he let everyone know just how excited he was that she used him as her wall and would be willing to be the substitute any time she wants.
And I have a feeling she wouldn’t mind either because here is what the Degrassi grad Tweeted before appearing on the show, “Quick 12 hour trip to LA to tape CONAN tonight! So excited to hang out with my favorite ginger in the world!!!”
Hopefully her favorite Ginger will be watching her in the heart stumping season finale of The Vampire Diaries on The CW at 8p.
And on that note good thing Nina’s boyfriend Ian Somerhalder was taping another talk show when she was Conan because I am afraid he would’ve showed his fangs to Coco had he been there and no one wants to mess with a pissed off Damon.
It is that time of the year when some of our favorite shows find out if they will be back for another season and today Alcatraz and The Finder found out their days are over according to TV Guide. But the news wasn’t all bad because Touch will be back to touch our hearts for another season.
The news about The Finder being cancelled is no surprise because the show just couldn’t find an audience. Could be because it wasn’t watchable. I know I tried several times and I could barely get through the episodes. I wanted it to do well but it just stunk.
Now when it comes to Alcatraz, I kind of figured it was going to be closed forever like the real prison when Fringe got the final season renewal. I can see Fox saying to J.J. Abrams we only have room for one of your shows and we are going to go with Fringe. Probably because they were afraid of the backlash if they cancelled it without a proper goodbye.
Finally the news about Touch makes me as happy as when I watch the show every week. It really has proved to be endearing show that everyone can enjoy and feel good about afterwards.
So half me is happy about the news and the other half is going to miss Alcatraz and the potential it had.
UPDATE: Fox has cancelled two more shows, renewed another two and show’s fate is left in the air. The Hollywood Reporter says that Fox has cancelled the unfunny I Hate My Teenage Daughter and pulled the plug on Breaking In for a second time. Last year I was pissed they ended Breaking In because it was smart comedy, but this year they made several changes to the show that made it hard to watch. So no protesting from me over the news.
But the news wasn’t all bad, Seth MacFarlane is singing the Meat Loaf song Two out of Three Ain’t Bad because Fox picked up Family Guy and American Dad for another season, but they are holding off on doing the same for The Cleveland Show according to Inside TV. Personally I thought that Cleveland was doing better than Dad in the ratings, but then again you never where it is going to air on Sundays because Fox keeps changing its timeslot.
Before Shemar Moore was studying the behaviors of criminals on Criminal Minds, he was studying psychology on Living Single. How sexy was the 24 year old actor in that 1995 episode.
