You have all heard that Eric Stoltz originally played Martin McFly when Back to the Future started filming, but then he was replaced by Michael J Fox. What we didn’t know up until now is that they always had Fox in mind for the role, but his Family Ties EP Gary Goldberg wouldn’t let Alex P Keaton time off to film the movie according to what he told David Letterman. So Fox wound up filming Teen Wolf instead. Well when things didn’t work out for the red headed actor, Fox stepped into those famous sneakers.
So I wonder if Fox could go into the DeLorean today if he would go back to the day when Goldberg nixed his part in the film and make sure he had it from the get. But if he did that than that would probably mean he never would’ve done Teen Wolf and that role might’ve gone to Eric Stoltz instead. So if Stoltz played Teen Wold, would that mean that Jason Bateman never would’ve done Teen Wolf 2. And if Bateman never did that movie, what else would we never have seen him? I guess the Butterfly Effect would change so much of what we have gotten to known…
Tonight at 9p on USA The Space Between is a movie about 9/11, but it is a different take on what happened that day and the days afterwards. A 10 year old Pakistan boy is leaving his dad in NY and flying to school in LA. Sounds normal enough, but he is doing it the morning of 9/11. A problematic stewardess is responsible for him and when their plane is grounded, she now needs to take care of him. The boy watches in horror as we all did as the buildings collapsed and he tells his temporary guardian that his father worked in the restaurant on the top floor at the WTC. Now she is doing everything she can to get him to his dad, in a time when transportation has been pretty much halted. What will be waiting for both of them when they get back to NY? Tune into this movie that shows what two people went through during that week that changed us all forever.
Today where we are looking at what happened 10 years ago this movie is a different way to remember it. I know I felt a connection with the film because the person who I knew that died that day in the Twin Towers, had a breakfast meeting at that restaurant at the top of the building and never made it down.
