Compelling stories are explored every day on “This American Life,” the nearly 15-year-old, award-winning Chicago Public Radio show that boasts a devoted weekly listening audience of 1.7 million, and is heard on more than 500 stations nationally. The series, created in 1995 by host and executive producer Ira Glass, pioneered a unique way of telling stories on the radio. Its first-person telling of these revealing stories makes the radio series a great fit for television.
In the same spirit of the radio show, the televised version of THIS AMERICAN LIFE, premiering Thursday, March 22nd at 10:30 p.m. PT/ET, takes 30-minute looks at stories culled from all over the country. Glass and a small team of radio producers and filmmakers spent six months on the road: traveling to Iowa pig farms, following a first-time filmmaker in California, photographing a raucous night at an Illinois hot dog stand. The result is true stories that are dramatic, emotional, and often funny.
Ira Glass’ This American Life is back tonight for its second season on Showtime tonight at 10p. Tonight’s episode deals with a 26 year old man who cannot survive on his own, but wants independence from his mom. He can only communicate via a computer, so when they ask him who he wants to his boy his voice he says either Johnny Depp or Edward Norton. Somehow they get Johnny Depp to read his e-mails which is more proof Johnny Depp is an amazing man.
Tune into This American Life to see real stories about real Americans on Showtime at 10p.
Joel Madden posted Fall Out Boys’ new video for Beat It featuring John Mayer and in his message he revealed his man crush on him!
But seriously how cool would it be if Good Charlotte, Fall Out Boy and John Mayer all collaborated on song together?
Melanie Griffith is the one wearing the most makeup. Antonio Banderas and Melanie took the family to see Cirque du Soleil's Love in Vegas and by the looks of it she is ready to join in on the show.
So remember Chris Bernheisel who auditioned for American Idol and did not make the cut but had such a winning personality that Simon Cowell said that he wanted him to cover the finale’s red carpet for his local Fox affil. Well now that the finale is three weeks away Fox and the local affil have reportedly said no because of his laundry list of demands according to TMZ.
Well Jimmy Kimmel saw his video plea on TMZ and has asked Chris if he wants he can report for him on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, but after reading Chris’ demands I am not sure Jimmy should still want him.
Chris should be grateful for any opportunity he was offered to cover the red carpet and not be making so many demands. He doesn’t know how a red carpet works especially one as massive as the one for the American Idol finale. I don’t blame the station for wanting their reporter out there, you need someone with experience there. And when it comes to the stars they don’t do interviews with everyone and why does he think they will all stop for him. Plus red carpets for the biggest Hollywood events are really tight and crowded and they can barely fit the reporter and the photog and he wants two more people besides himself. And when it comes to the amount of tickets, it is the hottest ticket in town and he wants 6 of the best seats and VIP?
Crap if I was offered what he was, I would take whatever I could get and be dang happy I got anything at all.
Good luck to Jimmy Kimmel if he says yes, so far Chris has not contacted JKL! about the offer!
