Katie Couric slaps a news editor for using the word sputum |

More negative news coming out about Katie Couric and CBS Evening News and this time it has nothing to do about her awful ratings. Katie Couric is accused of slapping a news editor because he used the word sputum in a story about tuberculous according to Drudge Report in a story that will be published in New York Magazine tomorrow.
"During the tuberculosis story in June, Couric got angry with news editor Jerry Cipriano for using a word she detested— 'sputum' —and the staff grew tense when she began slapping him 'over and over and over again' on the arm, according to a source familiar with the scene. It had seemed like a joke at first, but it quickly became clear that she wasn’t kidding."
A top CBS executive tells the DRUDGE REPORT that no formal complaint has been filed against Couric over the incident.
"I sort of slapped him around,” Couric admits to the magazine. “I got mad at him and said, 'You can’t do this to me. You have to tell me when you’re going to use a word like that.' I was aggravated, there's no question about that.' But she says she has a good relationship with Cipriano. 'We did ban the word sputum from all future broadcasts. It became kind of a joke."
A CBS insider says Couric slapped the staffer in a playful manor.
"Look, it wasn't serious, whatsoever."
If I were CBS, I would use this story as a reason to get her out of the anchor chair while they still have a chance of saving the show. BTW…

The Spice Girls are bringing a therapist on their tour to keep the peace according to Digital Spy. Tour promoters are afraid that the arguments between the girls might get to the point that one of them might walk away from it all and that would be costly all the way around. A source said, "This tour will be massive and record bosses do not want anything getting in the way – least of all the girls themselves. They want Girl Power to come back in style, not end in arguments between the girls. So taking a therapist along to smooth out any problems makes sense. The therapist will be available any time the girls need someone to talk to so that any disagreements do not get out of hand. It would be a disaster if any of them walked out mid-way through the tour." Not a bad idea, hopefully it will help the girls remain peaceful and together for all 11 of their dates. You know maybe other reunion tours should do the same thing like The Police and Van Halen!
