ABC addresses Isaiah Washington’s comments |
| February 19th, 2007 under Shonda Rhimes. [ Comments: none ]

| "We have a long-standing policy to create and maintain respectful workplaces for all our employees. We dealt with the original situation in October, and thought the issue resolved. Therefore, we are greatly dismayed that Mr. Washington chose to use such inappropriate language at the Golden Globes, that he himself deemed ‘unfortunate’ in his previous public apology. We take this situation very seriously, and his actions are unacceptable and are being addressed."

So who thinks his character will be killed off for May sweeps?

Babyshambles get a record deal |

| Babyshambles have signed a "long term" album deal with Parlophone. Pete Doherty's band signed after putting out the 'Blinding EP' on the label's imprint Regal last December. Welcoming the deal, the band's management issued a statement declaring: "Both management and the band are thrilled to have signed this deal and look forward to a long, fruitful, and creative relationship with Parlophone." It has not yet been revealed how many albums the deal is for, although Parlophone Managing Director Miles Leonard said he hoped the band would follow the label's stalwarts like Blur over a long period of time. "We're extremely pleased to be welcoming such a vibrant and talented band into the Parlophone label," he said. "Babyshambles, justifiably, have a great reputation for crafting some of the most exciting music around today, and in Peter Doherty they have one of the best songwriters of his generation. Parlophone have a long history of working with the best British bands, from Radiohead to Blur to Coldplay, and we see Babyshambles very much as continuing this tradition."

Are they talking about the same Pete Doherty that you and I know? Now that is a publicist who knows how to make anyone sound good!

Isaiah Washington apologizes |
| February 19th, 2007 under Shonda Rhimes. [ Comments: none ]
|
| “I apologize to T.R., my colleagues, the fans of the show and especially the lesbian and gay community for using a word that is unacceptable in any context or circumstance. By repeating the word Monday night, I marred what should have been a perfect night for everyone who works on Grey’s Anatomy. I can neither defend nor explain my behavior. I can also no longer deny to myself that there are issues I obviously need to examine within my own soul, and I’ve asked for help.
I know the power of words, especially those that demean. I realize that by using one filled with disrespect I have hurt more than T.R. and my colleagues. With one word, I’ve hurt everyone who has struggled for the respect so many of us take for granted. I welcome the chance to meet with leaders of the gay and lesbian community to apologize in person and to talk about what I can do to heal the wounds I’ve opened.
T.R.’s courage throughout this entire episode speaks to his tremendous character. I hold his talent, and T.R. as a person, in high esteem. I know a mere apology will not end this, and I intend to let my future actions prove my sincerity.”

Sure those are his words…that is his people trying to save his career. When do you think he will do a Mel Gibson like interview on Diane Sawyer?

Is CBS trying to lose viewers during the Super Bowl? |
| February 19th, 2007 under CBS, Super Bowl. [ Comments: none ]
|
| Katie Couric’s going to the Super Bowl. The "CBS Evening News" anchor will contribute a feature to CBS’ four-hour Super Bowl pregame show on Feb. 4, the network said on Thursday. She will also anchor the evening news from Miami, the site of the big game, on the Friday before the game. There’s precedent at other networks for the news anchors to be involved in sports coverage, including Brian Williams and Couric during NBC’s Olympic broadcasts, said Sean McManus, president of CBS News and Sports. "It is the biggest event of the day and it makes sense for us to showcase what she does before the biggest audience of the year," McManus said. Couric’s evening newscast is in third place in the ratings behind NBC and ABC. She’s tentatively scheduled to do a feature on Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward and his Korean heritage.

I understand that her show desperately needs viewers, but this is not the place or time to do it. She is like Off Spray to a mosquito when it comes to the average viewer of the Super Bowl. Why should we suffer for CBS’s mistake of hiring her?
