Say it ain’t so…Zoolander 2?
December 12th, 2006 under Frat Pack, Stupid Sequels/Remakes. [ Comments: none ]

Those Zoolander sequel rumors just won’t go away. This time, it’s Ben Stiller spreading them. While out promoting Night at the Museum he told USA Today that once he finishes filming the new Farrelly brothers movie The Heatbreak Kid, he plans to explore the possibility of a second Zoolander movie. Over the years both of the movie’s stars, Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson have talked on and off about making a follow up to their modeling industry parody, but they’ve just never gotten around to it. Maybe what’s holding them back is simply scheduling. Stiller says, “"It’s almost more difficult to work together as everybody has gotten successful. Everybody is doing their own thing, and it’s sometimes hard to get together.” The first movie starred Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Ben’s wife Christine Taylor, Ben’s dad Jerry Stiller, Will Ferrell, and Milla Jovovich. It’s easy to see why it might be tough to get all of those people back in the same film at the same time. Ben and Owen however are back together for Night at the Museum, and maybe time spent on the same movie had something to do with getting the idea of a sequel cooking in Stiller’s head again. Theatrically the movie was only a moderate success. It cost $28 million to make and grossed $45 million domestically. Since then though, it’s become an bigger hit on DVD.

I am sorry but that was one of the worst movies ever, why oh why would there be sequel talk. Please stop Ben Stiller from making movies! Please!

Hostel II coming June 8, 2007!
December 12th, 2006 under Eli Roth. [ Comments: none ]

Earlier this year, when Eli Roth’s HOSTEL hit the undesirable release month of January, everyone was blown away about how successful it ended up being- and for an R rated horror film to boot! Now with a sequel yet-to-be-released, Lionsgate isn’t taking any chances, and has landed some prime release date real estate. Yes, HOSTEL: PART II finally has an official release date, and it is…. June 8th, 2007! You read that straight, PART II is going up against the big-doggs of summer in competition for some box office gold. And what timing too, as the week after that the FANTASTIC FOUR sequel hits, followed by EVAN ALMIGHTY and muthaf*ckin’ John McClane in LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD the week after that. Yes, while the summer is shaping up to be yet another summer of sequels, at least this summer we’re getting some genre love up in the mix. And you know PART II is going to kill the box office- especially since it went with an all hotties cast this time around.

Arrow in the Head

I can’t wait for 6.08.07!!!

Um, Jessica Simpson can’t remember her, you know, lines on Blonde Ambition?
December 12th, 2006 under Nick Lachey/Jessica/Ashlee Simpson. [ Comments: none ]

Jessica Simpson is flubbing more than just song lyrics. Just days after the former reality show star caused a flap by messing up the lyrics in a Dolly Parton tribute, she’s reportedly having problems with her movie lines. A source on the Shreveport, Louisiana set of “Blonde Ambition” tells Star that Simpson is having trouble with her script lines. “After the seventh take on one shot, the director hid a microphone in her ear so a crew member could feed her lines,” a source told the tab. “Everyone was embarrassed for her, but she laughed it off, saying ‘I’m sorry, everyone. I’m sorry.” Co-star Luke Wilson was sympathetic, reports the source, and “patted [Simpson] on the back and told her it would be okay.”

I guess you can say she is living up to the title of the movie!!!

The Critics Choice Awards Nominees are…
December 12th, 2006 under Awards. [ Comments: none ]

Leonardo DiCaprio will face off against Leonardo DiCaprio at the 12th annual Critics Choice Awards, which will be handed out January 12. The hard-working DiCaprio has received best actor nominations for his work as a smuggler in "Blood Diamond" and an undercover cop in "The Departed" from the Broadcast Film Critics Assn., which will announce its year-end film nominations Tuesday. DiCaprio’s competition includes Ryan Gosling for "Half Nelson," Peter O’Toole for "Venus," Will Smith for "The Pursuit of Happyness" and Forest Whitaker for "The Last King of Scotland." Representing 200 television, radio and online critics, the BFCA bills itself as the largest film critics’ organization in the U.S. and Canada, and given its broad base, its choices often foreshadow the Oscar nominations of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. That bodes well for "Departed," "Babel," "Little Miss Sunshine" and "Dreamgirls," which received seven nominations each Monday. However, DiCaprio’s double-header — the first such dual nomination in the awards’ history — is impossible under the Academy’s rules, which allow a performer to be represented by only one performance per acting category. The 10 films nominated by the broadcast critics for best picture are "Babel," "Diamond," "Departed," "Dreamgirls," "Iwo Jima," "Little Children," "Sunshine," "Notes on a Scandal," "The Queen" and "United 93." Narrowing the field to choose five helmsmen to nominate as best director, the group focused on Bill Condon for "Dreamgirls," Clint Eastwood for "Letters From Iwo Jima," Stephen Frears for "Queen," Paul Greengrass for "United 93" and Martin Scorsese for "Departed." The best actress lineup includes Penelope Cruz for "Volver," Judi Dench for "Scandal," Helen Mirren for "Queen," Meryl Streep for "The Devil Wears Prada" and Kate Winslet for "Little Children." Best supporting actor nominees are Ben Affleck for "Hollywoodland," Alan Arkin for "Sunshine," Adam Beach for "Flags of Our Fathers," Djimon Hounsou for "Diamond," Eddie Murphy for "Dreamgirls" and Jack Nicholson for "Departed." Best supporting actress nominees include two from "Babel": Adriana Barraza, who plays a Mexican nanny, and Rinko Kikuchi, who plays a Japanese girl who is deaf and mute. The rest of the field encompasses Cate Blanchett for "Scandal," Jennifer Hudson for "Dreamgirls," Catherine O’Hara for "For Your Consideration" and Emma Thompson for "Stranger Than Fiction." Nominated for best acting ensemble are "Babel," "Bobby," "Departed," "Dreamgirls," "Sunshine" and "A Prairie Home Companion." The awards will be handed out during a ceremony at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, and E! Entertainment Television will broadcast highlights on January 20.

You have to feel for Ellen because she is going to have little to work with come Oscar night.

The Princes confirm they are doing a tribute concert for Princess Di
December 12th, 2006 under British Royals. [ Comments: none ]

Princes William and Harry today revealed their plans for a moving, double tribute to their mother marking the 10th anniversary of her death. Speaking about their plans for the first time the princes officially announced two major events next year to celebrate Princess Diana’s life. They have given the go-ahead for a memorial service on 31 August to be held in London. It will be preceded by a tribute concert on her birthday involving such stars as Sir Elton John. Prince William said today: "We both wanted to put our stamp on it. We want it to represent exactly what our mother would have wanted; how she was and all that sort of thing. So therefore the church service alone isn’t enough. "We wanted to have this big concert with, you know, full of energy, full of the sort of fun and happiness which I know she would have wanted. "It’s got to be the best birthday present she ever had. The main purpose is to celebrate and to have fun and to remember her in a fun way." Prince William added: "We’ve decided that it’s going to be called Concert for Diana, because obviously the evening is going to be purely about her. It’s to remember her and to celebrate her life." Prince Harry said: "The service is going to include both sides of the family, our mother’s side and our father’s side – everyone getting together. It should be a good occasion and lots of loud hymns, I Vow To Thee My Country, all the good ones." The Concert for Diana will be held at Wembley Stadium and hosted by the princes. Artists already booked for the 1 July concert include Sir Elton , Duran Duran, Bryan Ferry, Pharrell Williams, The English National Ballet, Joss Stone and Andrew Lloyd Webber, who will stage a medley of songs from some of his West End shows. It will raise money for Centrepoint, a homeless charity of which William is patron, and Sentebale, an AIDS charity based in Lesotho, set up by Harry in memory of his mother. Prince William and Prince Harry have invited the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, as well as Lady Sarah McCorquodale, Lady Jane Fellowes and Earl Spencer. • Tickets, priced £45, will be made available from 9am tomorrow via the website www.concertfordiana.com.

I hope it is televised because I would really love to watch it. Hard to believe it has been almost ten years since she died.
