Steve Irwin laid to rest
September 9th, 2006 under Steve Irwin. [ Comments: none ]

Wildlife television presenter Steve Irwin was buried at his Queensland zoo yesterday in a private funeral attended by family and close friends.Irwin’s family had turned down government offers of a state funeral insisting that they wanted his burial to be a simple, private affair. A close friend said: "The council gave the family permission to bury Steve at the zoo and we think they’re going to erect a monument there so visitors can continue to pay their respects."The family also plan to hold a public memorial service.Terri has not spoken publicly since Irwin’s death on Monday when a stingray’s barb pierced his heart while he was filming on the Great Barrier Reef. But she has spoken to her mother, Julie Raines.Mrs Raines, who lives in Oregon in the United States, said: "Terri is concerned about raising the children by herself."But I know she’ll do well. She’s just having a hard time. Robert says, ‘Where’s Daddy?’"Irwin’s close friend and producer, John Stainton, told CNN’s Larry King: "Terri is putting on a brave face for the kids’ sake."He also revealed that the TV crew who filmed Irwin’s death had returned to the Great Barrier Reef to complete Ocean’s Deadliest, the documentary he had been making.Mr Stainton said: "It was very difficult to go out there. But I knew Steve would have wanted that."

My prayers are with Terri and his children. Sounds like we will see his death if they are completing the documentary.

Bob Barker celebrates his 35th year with The Price Is Right!
September 9th, 2006 under Game Shows. [ Comments: none ]

Bob Barker will start his 35th season as the host of "The Price Is Right" on Sept. 18.Johnny Carson once held the record for continuous tenure with the same show: 29 years. Barker broke it in 2002. And Merv Griffin’s game-show classics "Jeopardy!" and "Wheel of Fortune" are years behind "Price," the longest-running game show in TV history. Barker’s approach, like the show’s set, has remained essentially unchanged since he arrived Sept. 4, 1972 to host what was then called "The New Price Is Right": wholesome, playful and family-friendly.But even in this era of endless channel choices and increasing fascination with the shocking and salacious, Barker and "Price" maintain an upbeat, timeless charm.

AP: What is it about the show that’s kept audiences hooked for all these years?
Barker: My agent says it’s the host. We’ve been on so long, I’ve been told by young people that their grandmother introduced them to the "Price is Right." It all adds up to a family thing that has been passed down from one generation to another. And nothing has changed. The only thing that’s changed on the "Price is Right" is the colour of my hair. When you turn the television on, you’re back in the 1970s.
AP: Will you ever retire?
Barker: I’ve thought about retiring for 10 or 15 years, but I have so much fun and the show is so successful that it’s tough to walk away from. I just signed a five-year contract, believe it or not. I don’t expect to last five years. I know that for about three years now, Freemantle (Media, which owns "Price") has been looking for a host. But I’m still doing the show so apparently they haven’t found the right one.
AP: Did you ever expect to last this long on the program?
Barker: My late wife said, "If you have anything, it’s tenacity." I did the pageants, Miss Universe and Miss USA, for 21 years. I did the Rose Parade for 21 years. I did the Pillsbury Bake-Off for 20 years. I went back for years, about 20 years, and did the Indianapolis 500 parade. I did "Truth or Consequences" for 18 years. When I get a job I hang onto it.AP: How many kisses from exuberant "Price" players have you gotten over the years?
Barker: I would say, including yesterday, I probably have had 932,403 kisses. There’s no doubt in my mind that I have been kissed more than anyone in television. Particularly on the right cheek. I’ve had a minimum on the left cheek. My contestants are always on my right.

Jam!

I hope he makes it to him 1 millionth kiss! Less than 67,000 kisses to go!

Big Brother jurors leave sequester house to party
September 9th, 2006 under Big Brother- US. [ Comments: none ]

The all-stars from the hit CBS show, "Big Brother", are secretly shacking up in our town… Or maybe not so secretly, thanks to our Eye on the Desert spies. The "Big Brother All-Stars" have been in town for about a week after hurricane John forced them to abandon their original location, Cabo San Lucas in Mexico. The reality stars were sighted at a restaurant-bar in Indio, singing karaoke, playing some golf, and well… from the picture, as you can probably tell, drinking. But they weren’t there for long… Once the producer of "Big Brother" found out what was going on, he put a stop to it.

I wonder how this will change who is going to vote for the winner? If Will and Danielle are not allowed to vote Erika might have a chance?

Who was voted off Celebrity Duets?
September 9th, 2006 under TV Reality. [ Comments: none ]

If you did not know Celebrity Duets was on yesterday or you are like me and your DVR stopped recording when they announced who was voted out. . .here is the unlucky celebrity who was voted out. . .

Even though I did not get why the judges loved Lea Thompson so much, I am surprised she went before that Olympic girl.

Who are you guys rooting for? I am biased towards my hometown boy Alfonso Ribiero, but to be honest I am really not in love with any of them.
