Michael Bolton, Chaka Khan, Clint Black and Cyndi Lauper are among the pop stars who will be part of "Celebrity Duets," a new Fox TV show that pairs singers and celebrities trying to prove they can carry a tune.The series, debuting with a two-hour episode on Aug. 29, is an elimination contest in the style of "American Idol," with judges and viewers deciding the fate of the celebrities.Other singers taking part are Smokey Robinson, Dionne Warwick, Brian McKnight, Macy Gray, Patti LaBelle, Kenny Loggins, Richard Marx, Randy Travis and Aaron Neville. More pop stars will be joining the show, Fox said today (July 24) at a Television Critics Association meeting. The celebrity participants have yet to be announced.Composer and arranger David Foster, who has worked with Celine Dion and Barbra Streisand and whose stepsons were in the Fox reality series "The Princes of Malibu," will be among the judges.

Monday Morning Box Office Update!

According to FINAL weekend box office numbers, "Clerks II" did a little better than the Sunday estimate of $9,625,000 for the weekend. The ACTUAL figure, according to the Weinstein Co. this morning, is $10,061,132.

Still doesn’t move us up the list any (we’re still ..6), but we DID hit double digits, and were only a million off from our "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" opening weekend of $11mil. We spent $15mil less making "Clerks II", and we spent way less marketing this movie. Add to that the fact that we were in profit before we opened, thanks to foreign sales, and you have the reason why both Harvey and Bob Weinstein called me this weekend to say "We’re happy. Now let’s keep moving in the right direction."

In other news, our exit polls have been strong, and our tracking is still good. We’ll see what the weekday numbers look like, and hopefully, the drop next weekend won’t be too steep.

The PBS Kids Sprout network has fired the host of "The Good Night Show" after learning she had appeared in videos called "Technical Virgin." The host, Melanie Martinez, had alerted network officials about one of the videos late last week and she was immediately taken off the air. "PBS Kids Sprout has determined that the dialogue in this video is inappropriate for her role as a preschool program host and may undermine her character’s credibility with our audience," said Sandy Wax, network president.Airing for three hours each evening, "The Good Night Show" airs soothing stories and cartoons designed to get an audience of 2-to-5- year-olds ready for bed. Each night, Martinez guides a puppet character into dreamland. Martinez is a stage actress and mother of a toddler.
In the two "Technical Virgin" videos _ made before she landed the children’s show job _ she spoofs PSAs about how young women can keep their virginity. PBS Kids Sprout airs children’s programming 24 hours a day and is seen in about 20 million of the nation’s 110 million television homes. "The Good Night Show" has been temporarily replaced by cartoons while a search is conducted for a new host.

I think that is such BS, she did that before she landed the job. As long as she is not doing it while she is on the show what is it their business. Also what normal parent would let their 2-5 year old watch something called "Technical Virgin?" Actually those videos kind of sound interesting and I would like to see them!

Lionel Richie tells Access Hollywood that he takes talk about daughter Nicole’s weight issues personally. Richie, whose new album, "Coming Home" will be released on September 12, 2006, performed in Hollywood Sunday night and told Access, "I’ll be honest with you, it (hearing rumors about Nicole’s weight) hurts me more than it hurts her. I’m more sensitive; I take it more so personal…I must tell you, I’m the basket case."When asked if he gets on Nicole about her weight, Richie added, "Of course, I mean, what are fathers for if you can’t point the finger every once in a while. I think the good part of it is she is aware of it… She has heard this all her life from me so this is just a continuation of the reminder."While it has been reported that Nicole fainted while shopping last week, Richie told Access, "She is doing great."

Beware the wrath of Janice Dickinson. The self-proclaimed "World’s First Supermodel" had a few choice words for Christie Brinkley’s estranged husband at a polo match over the weekend. Dickinson did not hold back saying, "Being a supermodel along with Christie back in the day, my heart goes out to Christie and her family and her children for that slob, slovenly rat bastard husband of hers. How dare he. How dare he, you pig. That’s all I have to say." Luckily for us, that wasn’t all she had to say, as she continued to go off on Cook and his mistress, 19 year old Diana Bianchi. "I think she’s [Bianchi] an opportunist . Rule #1, you stay away from married men. I just think that’s a very naughty thing to do to a sweet lady." One thing’s for sure, Janice definitely scared her own daughter from ever being in a similar situation to Bianchi’s. "My daughter is 19, the same age as that little slut that went out with Peter Cook . She would not behave like that. I’d be in jail, I’d have to go and kill her"
