The Who’s Towshends and Daltry internet war
July 27th, 2006 under Music. [ Comments: none ]

An inter-band feud has errupted in The Who over charity webcasts. The band have been offering live webcasts of their European tour dates at their website thewholive.tv for $10, with proceeds going to charity. However according to posts on guitarist Pete Townshend’s website petetownshend.co.uk, singer Roger Daltrey has disagreed with elements of the project and they are going to stop.Townshend has written: "Roger seems to think when I provide bandwidth for The Who website, and for live streaming, he is being exploited in some way and wants a piece of the future ‘profit’. Don’t think there is much chance of profit when it is all aimed at charity." "Daltrey seems to be unconvinced that the web has any real contribution to make to our career, and I am not going to spend any more time or money mortgaging my half of the stage," the guitarist writes.Townshend has set up a Hotmail address for fans to email Daltrey directly to help change his mind, it is [email protected] bare their relationship in his posts , Townshend has written: "Roger is my partner in The Who. He is not my partner in anything else. We love each other but we are not regular social buddies like Bono and The Edge, we do not discuss or share ideas, and we have no unified joint vision of strategy for The Who or for creative projects in general." He has also posted about the band’s new album: "I am mixing the last few tracks of the new Who record at my house in France. It’s starting to sound pretty good."

Candy Spelling denies Tori is getting less than a million.
July 27th, 2006 under Aaron/Candy/Tori Spelling. [ Comments: none ]

Reports that Tori Spelling may be left with less than £550,000 of her father Aaron Spelling’s whopping £269 million estate have been denied. Kevin Sasaki, a representative of her mother, Candy Spelling, the executor of the late mogul’s estate, said the claims were untrue. And he said that a report in US Weekly magazine that the strained relationship between Tori and Candy was the reason for the inheritance snub was "inaccurate".Making it clear that the Spellings had no comment to makeon what he described as the "family’s business", Sasaki concluded: "I know that based on what I know the claims made by the magazine were ridiculous and inaccurate. That’s all that can be said."The magazine alleges that Tori, 33, who has made no secret of her problematic relationship with Candy, will receive just 200,000 dollars (£107,914) in cash, plus 600,000 dollars (£323,858) in private investments. Tori’s younger brother Randy, 27, who is on good terms with his mother, will be "set for life" according to US Weekly’s sources. With Alzheimer’s listed as a contributing factor on 83-year-old Aaron’s death certificate, the magazine brings into question changes that were allegedly made to the will just three months before his June 23 death.Tori claims she has been financially independent from her family since her rise to fame on teen drama Beverly Hills 90210 in the early 90s. "I’ve worked since I was 16, so I pay for everything with my own money," the actress has said. "Anything I have, I’ve made on my own."

How dope is this?

Tour de France winner Floyd Landis has tested positive for the male sex hormone testosterone, the U.S. rider’s Phonak team said on Thursday. "The Phonak Cycling Team was notified yesterday by (world cycling body) the UCI of an unusual level of testosterone/epitestosterone ratio in the test made on Floyd Landis after stage 17 of the Tour de France," Phonak said in a team statement. Phonak said Landis would not ride until the matter had been clarified and said that if the B sample analysis confirmed the result of the A sample, the rider would be dismissed. Phonak added: "The team management and the rider were both totally surprised by this physiological result."The rider will ask in the upcoming days for the counter analysis to prove either that this result has come from a natural process or that this is the result of a mistake." Landis had earlier pulled out of a race in Denmark on Thursday. He also did not ride in a scheduled race in the Netherlands on Wednesday.

I hope with all that testosterone in his body he will take it like a man.

SYTYCD’s Benji and Heidi can dance!
July 27th, 2006 under SYTYCD. [ Comments: none ]

OMG! How amazing were they last night. I just love watching him! The way he moves his body is so fun to watch, his legs are like rubber! Benji! Benji! Benji!

But then my friend said if he wins he will not be able to do Celine’s show because it is all contemporary and he will not be able to do that. He has not done that yet on the show, but I am sure when he does my friend will eat his words.

Now the other dancers from last night. Ivan really pulled it out last night and deserves the right not to be in the bottom two. So that means Travis and Ryan willl be there, and Ryan should be out. It is really painfull to watch Ryan dance and if he does his solo again I hope he doesn’t do a mini-version of Center Stage again. I love that movie and not him. On to the girls I think Donyelle will make her first appearance in the bottom two. She will be joined by Natalie who had the misfortune of dancing with Ryan and he brought her down. I think Allison who does not really seem to have the popular vote will get some votes because Nigel mentioned she was in High School Musical. That might get her though another week, but I am not sure it will get her to the finals. The final two should be the people pictured on the right!

Nip/Tuck operates from the headlines
July 27th, 2006 under Nip/Tuck. [ Comments: none ]

The FX series regularly depicts bizarre, unbelievable cosmetic surgery scenarios: a woman so obese she was confined to her couch and literally became adhered to it; another whose dead unborn child remained in her womb for decades, as petrified as a prehistoric fossil.
Amazingly, each scenario is taken from the pages of life. "When you read a news clipping about a woman who has not left the sofa for three years and has grown into the sofa, you cannot quite believe it," said Murphy. "But you know, I find all of those things sort of ripe with intrigue, and I’m very interested in the morality of all those stories." And so it goes.
As the network’s No. 1 show heads into its fourth season the surgical exploits become very perverse and very personal. Katleen Turner, she of the infamous throaty drawl, plays a phone sex worker who needs a voice-lift. "That’s something that I’ve wanted to write for three years, a voice-lift, because I thought it was so odd," said Murphy. "And as soon as you say voice-lift, you think of Kathleen Turner – at least I do. Who has the world’s deepest voice? Other guest stars this season include Brooke Shields in a multi-episode arc as Christian’s (Julian McMahon) randy shrink, Rosie O’Donnell and Catherine Deneuve. O’Donnell, who has decried societal beauty standards and famously condemned fired "View" co-host Star Jones Reynolds for denying that her dramatic weight loss resulted from gastric bypass surgery, plays a "white trash princess from Pensacola, Fla., who wins $400 million in a Powerball lottery and brings in her whole family for extensive plastic," according to Murphy. And Deneuve will play a woman who asks Drs. Troy and McNamara to adjust her breast implants; she wants her husband’s ashes to be put into them – "so she can always be close to" him, explained Murphy. And, yes, that’s happened. "I mean," added Murphy, "it’s insane. But that is actually a true story."
