John Legend has an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony, but there is one award he does not have. He did not win Star Search. In fact, he didn’t even make it to the competition show.
The singer wanted to be on the show really badly. Therefore, when the series was holding regional auditions at his local mall in Dayton, Ohio, he tried out. Of course, he won, and his tape was sent to nationals. And they never called him back.
I am sure there are producers from the talent show, watching his interview with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show yesterday, who are kicking themselves in the a$$ for being a$$es not to choose him.
Well, at least they called back Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Destiny’s Child, and Christina Aguilera, to name a few.
When it comes to Legend, he is a legend in his own right. Who needs a Star Search trophy when they can be one of the few people who can say that they are an EGOT winner. That and he got $500 from the mall and bought a lot of clothes. Who needs a trip to Hollywood when you can get some new threads to attract the ladies.
