Duran Duran started out as a five-member band, but Andy Taylor has been on and off with them for most of their 40 years. After several stints with the band, he opted to leave them and never returned in 2006.
Then last year, they were inducted into the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame. Andy Taylor was looking forward to reuniting with Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor, and Roger Taylor. However, he wasn’t able to attend because he revealed that he has been battling stage IV prostate cancer.
Recently, Le Bon hung out with Andy and finally gave him his statuette from the HoF.
I guess the two had a really good conversation because there are reports that the guitarist is working with D2 on their new album, and the band confirmed it.
“Duran Duran are thrilled to confirm a special new music project is in the works, set for release later this year on BMG,” Duran Duran wrote in a statement. “The new recordings will feature extended Duran Duran family and friends, old and new, including our former band mate Andy Taylor who will join us on guitar on a few tracks.”
As a Duranie, I can’t wait to hear their tracks together because I have missed them as a quintet. Hopefully, he will be healthy enough to join them on the road because they said they will be touring later this year.
