June 23rd, 2013 under Lifetime

Drop Dead Diva is back on Lifetime tonight at 9p and you don’t want to miss what happens next. As you remember in the season finale, on her wedding day to Owen, Jane kissed Grayson and as her fiance’ walked in and saw her do it. He collapsed at the same moment that Dead Jane hit the button to return to Earth to get her life back from Deb, who is in her old body. Well tonight’s episode picks up a little after that moment and Owen is missing. New Jane finds out that Dead Jane is back and she is seeking revenge. Well since Owen has been hospitalized since that dreaded moment, no one knows if Dead Jane went into his body. And they are not going to find out because he checks out and doesn’t tell anyone where he is going. So now New Jane has no idea where Dead Jane is and if Owen is dead and Dead Jane has taken over his body. Sounds confusing? It won’t be when all of these questions are answered on a show that is just as darling as ever.

Then at 10p it is time for Devious Maids. In the land of Beverly Hills, the town has as many as maids as it does people who live there and tonight we are going to meet some of them. During a party at the residence of Evelyn and Adrian Powell (Rebecca Wisocky and Tom Irwin) their maid, Flora (Paula Garcés) will be murdered and her killer will be a mystery. Her friends will try to figure out who did it.
Zoila (Judy Reyes) and her daughter, Valentina (Edy Ganem), work for Genevieve Delatour (Susan Lucci) and her son, Remi (Drew Van Acker). Valentina has a crush on Remi, and her mom will do everything in her power to make sure they don’t get together. Then there is Carmen (Roselyn Sánchez) who works for Alejandro (Matt Cedeño) a top-selling singer and she will do anything to get him to listen to her music. Only problem is his assistant, Odessa (Melinda Page Hamilton), won’t let her get anywhere close to him. Also in their group is Rosie (Dania Ramírez), a widow whose young son is in Mexico and she working as maid to bring him to America. She works for two actors, Peri and Spence Westmore (Mariana Klaveno and Grant Show) and takes care of their baby. Peri has a secret and Rosie is debating whether or not to tell Spence. Then there is a new member to their group, Marisol (Ana Ortiz), who accepts a job with newlyweds Taylor and Michael Stappord (Brianna Brown and Brett Cullen). Their marriage has big issues and Marisol will try to help them through it as she hides a big secret of her own. I ain’t going to tell you what it, you will just have to watch to find out!
I get why ABC passed on this Mark Cherry/Eva Longoria show because the pilot id good but not great. And after I watched the second episode, I totally understand why Lifetime picked it up. It really gets good next week, so don’t give up on it after tonight. And to the people who say that this show gives into racial stereotypes of Latinas working as maids, watch the show to see it doesn’t play into that stereotype.
