Will Smith is not man enough to deal with a spider
August 22nd, 2022 under Will Smith. [ Comments: none ]

Will Smith might’ve thought he acted like a man when he slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars. However, when he saw a little spider in his house, he made his son Trey deal with it.

So Smith might have been able to take on CGI spiders in Wild, Wild West. But in real life, he is a wimp like the rest of us.

Just another reason why he is losing his action movie cred.

Will Smith breaks his silence, should’ve stayed silent
July 29th, 2022 under Chris Rock, Will Smith. [ Comments: none ]

It has been about three months since Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars over a bad joke the latter made about Jada Smith. Since then, he has been silent, but today he released an apology video.

Smith says that he reached out to Rock, but the victim is not ready to talk to him just yet. And if I were Rock, I wouldn’t talk to him because I think Smith would turn it into a publicity stunt.

The actor apologized to Rock’s family, his family, and the nominees, but not the hosts.

Smith also said that he was not provoked by his wife’s eye roll. He reacted to his history with Rock making fun of him and his wife.

The Bad Boy says, “disappointing people is his personal trauma. I hate when I let people down.” Then he said he is working on himself because of that, he is “deeply remorseful. And I am trying to be remorseful without being ashamed of myself.”

Smith admits that he made a mistake, but he is not trying to think of himself as a “piece of shit.” But he is for what he did. And admitting that will help him move forward in our eyes.

Finally, he concluded the nearly six-minute “apology” video with, “If you hang on, I promise we’ll be able to be friends again.”

So what is my take on this video? For someone who won the Oscar for Best Actor at this year’s Academy Awards, I would think he could’ve done a better acting job.

For someone who says he is remorseful, I didn’t see any of that. All I saw was his co-star in I, Robot.

Do you forgive him after watching this?

Jada Pinkett Smith talks about Oscar night
June 1st, 2022 under Will Smith. [ Comments: none ]

Jada Pinket Smith released a new episode of Red Table Talk today on Facebook, and it was important for her because they talk about the impact of alopecia on men, women, children, and herself.

The actress started the episode with this message, “This is a really important Red Table Talk on alopecia. Considering what I’ve been through with my own health and what happened at the Oscars, thousands have reached out to me with their stories. I’m using this moment to give our alopecia family an opportunity to talk about what it’s like to have this condition and to inform people about what alopecia actually is.

“Now, about Oscar night, my deepest hope is that these two intelligent, capable men have an opportunity to heal, talk this out and reconcile,” she said. “The state of the world today, we need them both. And we all actually need one another more than ever. Until then, Will and I are continuing to do what we have done for the last 28 years, and that’s keep figuring out this thing called life together. Thank you for listening.”

And yet, there is no explanation about what happened between Will Smith and her, nor did she apologize.

However, I respect her for getting the word out about alopecia and its effect on people. But, with a statement like that about Oscar night, she would have been better off keeping quiet.

Will Smith was banned from the Oscars for the next 10 years
April 8th, 2022 under Oscars, Will Smith. [ Comments: none ]

Less than two weeks after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars, the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences has come up with a punishment for the disgraced actor.

Smith will have to spend the next ten years watching the Oscars from home like almost every other actor in the biz. He also will not be allowed to attend any Academy event during that time.

AMPAS gave this statement to Variety:
“The 94th Oscars were meant to be a celebration of the many individuals in our community who did incredible work this past year; however, those moments were overshadowed by the unacceptable and harmful behavior we saw Mr. Smith exhibit on stage.

During our telecast, we did not adequately address the situation in the room. For this, we are sorry. This was an opportunity for us to set an example for our guests, viewers and our Academy family around the world, and we fell short — unprepared for the unprecedented.

Today, the Board of Governors convened a meeting to discuss how best to respond to Will Smith’s actions at the Oscars, in addition to accepting his resignation. The Board has decided, for a period of 10 years from April 8, 2022, Mr. Smith shall not be permitted to attend any Academy events or programs, in person or virtually, including but not limited to the Academy Awards.

We want to express our deep gratitude to Mr. Rock for maintaining his composure under extraordinary circumstances. We also want to thank our hosts, nominees, presenters and winners for their poise and grace during our telecast.

This action we are taking today in response to Will Smith’s behavior is a step toward a larger goal of protecting the safety of our performers and guests, and restoring trust in the Academy. We also hope this can begin a time of healing and restoration for all involved and impacted.”

So, now that Smith cannot attend the Oscars, is he still eligible to be nominated and possibly win another one. Yes, he is, and yes, he can.

Personally, I think he needs to hold a press conference, give a heartfelt apology (not like his BS acceptance speech with crocodile tears), and hand back his Oscar. Then he can get a fake one on Hollywood Blvd and no one will be the wiser that it is not the real thing.

Do you think the punishment is harsh enough?

Netflix puts Will Smith’s upcoming film on the backburner
April 2nd, 2022 under Will Smith. [ Comments: none ]

Will Smith has been paying the personal consequences for slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars, like resigning from The Academy. Now, the disgraced actor is taking a hit professionally.

He was slated to start filming Fast and Loose for Netflix shortly. However, due to the director leaving before Sunday’s fiasco and what happened that night, the film has suddenly been put on the backburner.

The Hollywood Reporter added that his completed Apple TV+ movie Emancipation has no release date. Several other movies that he was lined up for, including Bad Boys 4, are all taking a pause.

I am sure they will all start up again, but for now, they need to let the fire burn out before they consider working with an actor who is persona non grata
