Behind the Music coming back to VH1!!!
March 19th, 2009 under VH1/MTV. [ Comments: none ]

VH1 is bringing back their great documentary show Behind the Music for 10 episodes according to The Hollywood Reporter!

“It felt like the time is right,” said Jeff Olde, VH1 executive vp original programming. “There’s all sorts of new artists on the scene who have emerged and have these great stories. And there’s other artists that we always wanted to do the first time around.”

I loved Behind the Music, so I hope the network brings it back for more than just 10 episodes! I say cancel all those stupid dating shows they are coming up for their rejected reality dating show stars and give more programming time to to Behind the Music! Did we really need another season of Real Chance of Love? Seriously?

Where is Mark Wahlberg when you need him?
March 16th, 2009 under Russell Brand, Saturday Night Live, VH1/MTV. [ Comments: 2 ]

Once again MTV has chosen someone unfunny to host their Awards’ show. For their music awards they tapped Russell Brand with the title and now for their Movie Awards they gave the job to Andy Samberg. Besides doing skits that were only made funny because of Justin Timberlake and imitating Mark Wahlberg in Talks to the Animals, has he done anything noteworthy? And MTV wonders why they lose viewers with every Awards’ show?
The MTV Movie Awards will air on May 31st, I know you are as excited as I am about the show!

Ricki Lake to run Charm School 3
February 5th, 2009 under VH1/MTV. [ Comments: 3 ]

(start it at 4:30 in)

VH1 Blog has announced that former-talk show host and actress Ricki Lake is going to take over for Mo’Nique and Sharon Osbourne as the head of Charm School 3. She will be trying to teach the girls of Rock of Love Bus and Real Chance of Love how to have class.

We are thrilled to have Ricki spearheading this new take on Charm School. Our audience knows her, loves her and respects her. And Ricki certainly knows a thing or two about taking big, loud characters and bringing them to a place of new emotional understanding,” said Jeff Olde, Executive Vice President, Original Programming and Production, VH1.

While Ricki might know a lot about taking on big, loud characters, how much does she really know about class? I just have never seen her show that side of her. Not that she is tactless, but you know what I mean?

Confessions of a Teen Idol premieres tonight!
January 4th, 2009 under Scott Baio, VH1/MTV. [ Comments: 3 ]

In Confessions of a Teen Idol, seven former teen idols will live together under one roof, and Scott Baio will take on the challenge of remaking their careers. Baio, currently experiencing his own career revitalization, will coach and mentor these once hot celebrities with help from his good friend, actor turned producer Jason Hervey (Wayne from The Wonder Years), a therapist specializing in fame, and a team of Hollywood insiders.
Over the course of eight one-hour episodes, viewers will see the former teen idols analyze their past successes and failures to find out where it all went wrong, then take what they’ve learned and reinvent themselves in an effort to reclaim their careers. Each week, the former idols will explore a different aspect of being famous, uncovering some dark truths about being famous that will shock the audience.

Scott Baio and Jason Hervey are back on VH1, but this time they are helping 7 other teen idols try to recapture what they once had. There are 7 interesting personalities entering the house. Eric Nies is the weirdest of them all and it will be interesting to see how the other 6 will react to oddities. Adrian Zmed is the peacemaker and the daddy of the household. It is weird seeing Billy Hufsey, he doesn’t look like he did when he did Fame so I spent the whole show trying to see the old him. Christopher Atkins still looks great and seems content where he is at. Jeremy Jackson really seems like he wants a second chance. David Chokachi remains pretty quiet until the end of the show where he is ready to walk away. Jamie Walters has his life together and remains quiet throughout the first episode.
The 7 celebs go to a therapist and the first one to confront her on her experience is Eric Nies, but as the weeks go on he will not be the only one. The 7 will have to also go through a focus group and the reality on where they stand will hit them hard. With all they are doing will they be able to be the guys that all the girls want and all the boys want to be. I think some of them really have a chance, and I am hoping they do. I can’t wait to see their transformation on this show because this show is sincerely originaly and really good!
So tune into Confessions of a Teen Idol on VH1 tonight at 8p and every Sunday.
