John Lennon’s killer was denied parole for a fourth time Tuesday because of the "bizarre nature" of his crime. Mark David Chapman, 51, must remain at Attica Correctional Facility for at least two more years for gunning down the former Beatle outside his Manhattan apartment building in 1980. "The panel remains concerned about the bizarre nature of this premeditated and violent crime," the board wrote in a one-page decision issued shortly after Chapman’s appearance before the three-member panel at Attica. The hearing lasted 16 minutes, said Scott Steinhardt, spokesman for the state Division of Parole. A transcript of the hearing was not immediately available. "While the panel notes your satisfactory institutional adjustment," the decision said, "due to the extremely violent nature of the offence, your release would not be in the best interest of the community." The decision came one day after what would have been Lennon’s 66th birthday. Chapman has been in prison for 25 years. He became eligible for release after serving 20 years of a maximum life sentence. His next appearance before the parole board will be in October 2008.

Rapper Diddy has sensationally admitted that he did not write much of his early material. The artist, real name Sean Combs, reveals his creative input to his first three albums, No Way Out, Forever and The Saga Continues, was more than limited. However he insists all has changed for his latest release. Press Play is due out on October 17, and features guest appearances from Mary J. Blige and Kanye West among others. Speaking of the record, Combs said: "On a lot of the other records, to be honest, I didn’t do a whole lot of writing. On this one, I did a lot."

So he samples and has other people write for him, what does he do then?

San Francisco police say they stopped a limo carrying John Karr after the one-time JonBenet Ramsey suspect was spotted wandering near a school and peering in a window! The AP reported this weekend: Police say the received a call from the Convent of the Sacred Heart school, where Karr worked briefly as a teacher’s aide in 2000. School employees told police the limo carrying Karr and two producers for ABC’s "Good Morning America," stopped near the school. Karr got out, strolled the sidewalk and approached the school’s door. Police say no laws were broken, but they did take the names of Karr and the producers.Karr was released from jail Thursday after Sonoma County authorities lost critical evidence in a five-year-old child pornography case against him and it was dismissed. UPATE: ABC canceled the interview with Karr on Friday after he jumped out of the car at the school. "Our producers were quite disturbed by his behavior. No sweeps special. No interview."

Fidel Castro dying of cancer? |
October 7th, 2006 under Unadmirable People. [ Comments: none ]

Ever since President Fidel Castro was sidelined for what was said to be abdominal surgery last July, Cuban officials have maintained that the country’s leader will return to his post. ‘’We will again have him leading the revolution,’’ said Foreign Minister Felipe Pérez Roque just two days ago, speaking at an outdoor rally to protest the U.S. trade embargo against Cuba, according to the Communist Party daily newspaper Granma. But U.S. officials tell TIME that many in the U.S. government are now convinced that Castro, 80, has terminal cancer and will never return to power. "Certainly we have heard this, that this guy has terminal cancer," said one U.S. official. Of course, such intelligence reports could be wrong, and one official cautioned that definitive proof is nearly impossible for the U.S. to come by. Yet the fact that the Cuban government removed Castro from the public stage before his death could suggest that Castro and his would-be successors were aware of a terminal condition and wanted to gauge public reaction to his absence. "They got to see how people would react," says one U.S. official. "They have had a chance to see how things might work without out him functioning day-to-day." Contacted by Time, the Cuban government denied the imminent demise of its leader. One high ranking official said, "The United States Intelligence Services have been wrong for more than 47 years in their predictions not only in relation to the health of the Cuban President but also in all aspects regarding our country." He referred to Castro’s July 31 statement as the only definitive assessment of the President’s health. In it, Castro declared that surgery and treatment for intestinal bleeding "obliges me to spend several weeks in repose, away from my responsibilities and duties." Cuban sources say that preparations continue for a belated but elaborate celebration of Castro’s 80th birthday on Dec. 2.

Sienna Miller apologises to the city of Pittsburgh |

I want to apologise for my comments which seem to have been misconstrued and taken out of context. I was referring to the fact that we are shooting almost all night shoots on this film and none of us have had an opportunity to fully explore the city. What I have seen of it is beautiful. I came once before to visit the Andy Warhol museum whilst researching a film and found both the city and it’s inhabitants warm and gracious. My father is from Meadville and is in town to show me round this weekend. I sincerely apologise and hope people realise that conversations can be easily manipulated in print.

But will be it too little too late? Here is an article with reaction to Sienna’s comments from Pittsburgh’s WTAE.
