The Young and the Restless is turning 50 this week. So Jerry O’Connell went behind the scenes of the CBS Soap Opera to talk to the cast for The Talk.
What was his burning question for them? He wanted to know how they prepare for love scenes. Several of them brush their teeth, Sharon Case gets a spray tan, and one of them eats an apple. Can you guess who? And does that really work? Tracey Bregman doesn’t believe that actor because he is always eating chocolate.
Oh, and did I mention that Beth Mailand totally flirted with Mr. Rebecca Romijn? Maybe he can play her lover in an upcoming episode? I hope he stocks up on apples!
Every year when it comes to renewing Days of our Lives, we wonder if it will be back for another season. Last year, the Soap Opera moved from NBC to Peacock, and we weren’t sure if it would survive.
Well, it is making a Gloria Gaynor song and will survive. Not for one season, but two! That means it will celebrate its 60th year on the air!
Congrats to the little show that could!
Moving to the streaming service was a blessing in disguise! Now that fans aren’t beholden to a timeslot and can watch it when they want. Therefore, more people are watching the Daytime Drama.
UPDATE: In other TV news, the overpriced Val Kilmer-less Willow is one and done on Disney+, according to Deadline.
The Young and the Restless is celebrating its 50th year on television next month. To celebrate the milestone, they are bringing back five fan favorites.
They are Michael Damian as Danny Romalotti, Patty Weaver as Gina Roma, Barbara Crampton as Leanna Love, Tricia Cast as Nina Webster, and Veronica Webb as Mamie Johnson.
The actors’ return will lead up to the special episode, which is airing on the Soap Opera’s 50th birthday on March 26th. On that date, you “can expect big moments and a fun look back at Y&R’s rich history.” I wouldn’t be surprised if they had a few more guest surprises for us.
Who are you most excited to see come back to Genoa City?
For some stupid reason, General Hospital opted not to renew Marcus Coloma’s contract, and we don’t know why.
When the actor was told that he would not be back in 2023, it was reported that he didn’t film his final episodes as Nikolas Cassadine. But we didn’t know why he didn’t film them. Now we know what happened. And it is not as salacious as we thought it was.
“As mentioned in a statement provided by ABC, we wanted to confirm that Marcus ‘will no longer be playing the role of Nikolas Cassadine. His last airdate will be at the end of January.’ Marcus has wrapped his 3-year contract with General Hospital and has thoroughly enjoyed working on the show with such a talented group of actors, writers, producers and directors,” his spokesperson wrote in a statement to Deadline. “Unfortunately, due to health issues with his recent Covid exposure, the network graciously agreed that he should not film the remaining few days of the year.”
Personally, I think General made a huge mistake. But as they say, “One man’s loss is another man’s gain.” Someone is going to gain his talent, and I can’t wait to see who does.
Marcus Coloma is one of General Hospital’s biggest stars since he joined the Soap Opera in 2019. However, the Daytime Drama decided to part ways with Prince Nikolas Cassadine.
And his departure is causing drama. According to Daytime Confidential, the actor refused to film his final scenes after he was fired.
I can’t blame him because he deserved better than what they did to him. But I think he will be fine and we will see him on our televisions again soon.
The actor has yet to address his departure.
His last episode will air next month, according to Soap Opera Digest.
