Seriously? OMG! WTF?

Television’s longest running show, GUIDING LIGHT, is teaming up with Marvel Comics to produce a very special "Inside the Light" episode unveiling a new super powered character, to be broadcast Wednesday, Nov. 1 on the CBS Television Network. GUIDING LIGHT’S episode, titled "She’s a Marvel," written by headwriter David Kreizman, focuses on mild mannered and harried cop, mother and wife Harley Davidson Cooper, played by Beth Ehlers. Zapped by an electrical current, Cooper finds herself infused with the energy, and is able to channel it, giving her the powers of a superhero — levitation and electricity conduction. How will her new powers affect her life? Additionally, in a first for daytime television, Marvel Comics will release a "comic back-up" featuring some of Marvel’s mightiest heroes (and villains) who will descend on GUIDING LIGHT’S city of Springfield to determine if this new super powered being is friend or foe. The "back-up" is an eight-page addition to the following Marvel Comic books: (Oct. 25) "Civil War: Choosing Sides," "Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane 11," "Marvel Select Flip Magazine 18," "Marvel Tales Flip Magazine 17"; (Nov. 1) "Marvel Adventures Spider-Man 21," "Spider-Man And Power Pack 1," "Marvel Adventures Flip Magazine 18," "Marvel Heroes Flip Magazine 18"; (Nov. "Amazing Spider-Girl 2," "Franklin Richards: Happy Franksgiving!," "Marvel Adventures Fantastic Four 18"; (Nov. 15) "Ultimate Marvel Flip Magazine 19," "Ultimate Tales Flip Magazine 19." "Joining forces with Marvel is such a natural fit for us because comic books and soap operas have so much in common," says Kreizman. "Both feature long-running characters and larger-than-life stories that appeal to a loyal and passionate fan base. We hope that our viewers will be excited to see their favorites in the pages of a comic book and that Marvel fans will tune in to see how we put our twist on a classic superhero story. What working mom hasn’t wished for superpowers every now and then?"

What happened to good old November sweeps soap storylines like a dead characters coming back to life, infertile women getting pregnant and no one knows who that daddy is and a good old traditional wedding! And all those storylines are about one character!

Back in July, we were deeply saddened by the news that daytime veteran Benjamin Hendrickson had committed suicide. The 55-year-old Daytime Emmy winner was beloved by soap-opera fans as Oakdale P.D. detective Hal Munson on CBS’s As the World Turns. Hendrickson was last seen in the July 12 episode. At the time, the show’s spokesperson told TVGuide.com that there were "no plans to recast" the role of Hal. Since then, loyal World Turns viewers have been asking me what would become of the Hal character. Now, I finally have something to tell you. In the Friday, October 13 episode, Hal’s son Will (Jesse Lee Soffer) receives a heartbreaking telephone call. On Monday, October 16, we’ll watch the rest of Oakdale learn that Hal was killed off-screen in the line of duty. Hal’s loved ones celebrate (rather than just mourn) his life with a get-together at Yo’s, a longtime local hangout. "We all felt that we needed to give the character of Hal the respect he deserved," World Turns head writer Jean Passanante tells TVGuide.com. "It is a difficult situation. We have needed some time to let things settle. Ben had very close relationships with everybody at the show. The audience obviously adored him, too. Hal Munson, as played by Ben, was definitely a moral compass for Oakdale. We miss him."

I have not watched ATWT in over a decade, but I am going to watch. So sad.

I have to admit it: When I heard that Alan Thicke would be guest-starring on CBS’s The Bold and the Beautiful, I got a serious case of Growing Pains.Children of the ’80s knew Thicke as one of TV’s coolest dads, Dr. Jason Seaver. So it was trippy for me to head down to the B&B set this month and watch the Canadian funnyman tape his sudsy guest gig. He airs this Wednesday, August 30 and Thursday, August 31.Thicke plays Rich Ginger, a Bold talk show host who interviews Donna Logan (Jennifer Gareis) about her gig as the spokesmodel for the "Brooke’s Bedroom" underwear line. Look for Donna’s crush, Ridge Forrester (Ronn Moss), to step in when Mr. Ginger’s questions take a tabloid-ish turn."I’ve always been intrigued [by soap operas]," Thicke says. "I was married to a soap star, Gloria Loring (ex-Liz, Days of our Lives) for years. So I was tickled to be invited to guest star on B&B. This was glorious because I’m just sitting down, talking to a girl in lingerie. That’s my role! It’s not very heavy."

Was there no one else out there do this? C’mon Jerry Springer is in town for DWTS3 and even he is better than Alan Thicke!

A week ago Friday, Melissa Reeves and Matthew Ashford left the show. I won’t say goodbye, I know the door is wide open for both actors to return. They are fan favorites and cast and crew favorites as well. The day was upbeat for the most part . It is always strange when actors are leaving, whether by choice or not. The OSV (on set vibe) was definitely a mixed bag on Friday when we taped our final scenes with Jack and Jennifer. Vern showed up to see them off. I hadn’t seen Wayne Hefley in all these years. Jack and Steve’s mommy, Jo, was in the house blubbering over both of us. Marilyn (McIntyre) was a good sport when I told her I would be avoiding her affections (in character of course) by throwing in an “easy now” when she came at me with an, “Oh, Baaabyyyy!!!” as I showed up at Jack and Jen’s door. The most touching moment of the day was when Missy and Frances dress rehearsed their goodbye scene and both women broke down. They could barely get through the dialogue for all the emotion that flooded in. All of this had triggered something in Frances. At the end of the taping of these scenes, Frances revealed that she had never cried on stage or screen… EVER, before this day. We all sat or stood in stunned silence upon hearing this. Dear Frances Reid is my roommate. We share a dressing room. When I first came back to the show, Frances would say thanks for “letting me use your room.” “What?,” I said, I am honored to share your dressing room.” When she is at work, I go elsewhere and the rest of the time; I have the honor and the privilege of using her dressing room. Then it was cake time for Matt and Missy. Three speeches… one from producer, Steve Wyman and two from great people who happen to be great actors. Missy said when she was a little girl she dreamed of having a family and staying home to raise her kids. She thanked Ken Corday for making that possible. Missy is going to live in Nashville and be a stay-at-home mom. After all these years, she finally sees her dream fulfilled. Matt, with one of his daughters in his arms, talked about her three-day run in her first play and how at the end of it she said, “I didn’t know it would hurt this much.” Matt also mentioned something about how many times he had died on the show and come back to life. He was not willing to say goodbye and I told him that I’m not either. Acting with Matt again has been one of the highlights of my return – we always have so much fun. The brother dynamic always seemed to work with us both in the past and currently. I asked the prop man to get me one of those Sherlock Holmes type pipes so Steve would have a gift of some kind to give Jack. I could always throw anything Matt’s way and he would find a way to use it in the scene. One of the lines they wrote for me sums it up. I say to Jack, “Somehow this makes sense, in a weird sorta’ way… you and me.” I don’t believe we have seen the last of Jack.
