Alison Sweeney will be on The Ellen DeGeneres Show tomorrow and she has a huge announcement. After being on Days of our Lives for over 21 years, she will be saying goodbye to her home, since she was 16, later this year. She explained that she wants spend more time with her kids, after doing both the soap opera and The Biggest Loser for the last 7 years.
I can’t say I blame her, but I will miss her. It will be interesting to see how the Daytime Drama survives without its baddest girl.
Finally, how do you want to see Sami Brady leave Salem? Hopefully it won’t be in a coffin. Although on DOOL, just because your dead, doesn’t mean you are dead.
Kelly Monaco Tweeted this photo of herself sick in bed; and even though the General Hospital beauty isn’t feeling well, she still looks gorgeous. When I feel like crap, I look like crap; so I want to know her secret because it is more than chicken soup.
ABC cancelled All My Children and One Life to Live on the same day, but Prospect Park was able to help them see a few more days online and on OWN. I say that in the past tense because it looks like both shows are once again dead for the time being.
All My Children’s Cady McClain posted this sad message on her Facebook page:
If you aren’t hearing anything about the ending of AMC as we know it, it’s really out of shock. I am also trying to allow PP to have the moment to contact all the actors and explain what is and has been going on with AMC, and then gather themselves to try and explain it all to you, the fans.
I can confirm what Debbie Morgan has shared already, that we were given assurances that we would be continuing with the series and then were very recently contacted and told that, with great regret, AMC won’t be going back online this year, or in this particular incarnation. Certainly hope springs eternal that we will yet again, spring from the dead.
I do feel confident in sharing my opinion that PP and all “the powers that be” involved in making AMC and OLTL truly loved the shows and did their utmost to make continuing them possible. The premiere in NYC was one of the most exciting moments I have had the privilege to be a part of in my career. I am not privy to the behind the scenes decisions, however. Like you, I can only experience those choices second hand and guess at the reasons why this is happening now.
Instead of going into the “What Went Wrong” question, I think I’d rather focus on the gratitude I feel for having been asked to continue with the show. If I am still wanted as an actor on daytime, it is all because of YOU, the FANS.
I am so very grateful for your support. To have had the opportunity to be a part of an innovative experience that strived to keep American soaps alive via a new medium, to be a part of the continuing fabric of your lives through daytime storytelling, and to be able to work with dear friends who I’ve known all my life was a very special experience for which I have you to thank.
So THANK YOU for all the cheering, love, and support, daytime family. You’ve been AWESOME.
How many times has Stefano DiMera come back to life on Days of our Lives, maybe the same will happen for these two daytime dramas. I hope by some miracle they can rise like the Phoenix again.
BTW I blame Susan Lucci for this because she should’ve appeared on the online version of the soap opera that made her a star and an Emmy winner. I am sure she could’ve fit it in her schedule between takes of Devious Maids.
Back in 2011, Oprah Winfrey said Soaps were done for and that she would not help save All My Children and One Life to Live. Well a lot has happened in two years and guess what OWN is airing starting on July 15th? That’s right All My Children and One Life to Live are coming to Oprah Winfrey’s Network. They struck a deal to air the first 40 episodes from Prospect Park. For 10 weeks at 1p you can watch AMC and then at 3p OLTL is on Mondays to Thursdays. These episodes will only be a half hour long, so mark your calendars because how much fun would it be if there were the biggest thing that OWN has. It would be like a big FU to Oprah for saying Daytime Dramas were dead! And c’mon who hasn’t wanted to tell her she has been wrong about something for years?
Long live Soap Operas!!!
Yesterday at the Daytime Emmy Awards Corbin Bersen paid tribute to his mom before the In Memoriam segment. He channeled Jeanne Cooper’s essence when he cursed not one but twice in that speech. The proud son said she was with them in the audience, “If you listen very carefully you know exactly what she is saying, ‘Oh sh!t! I’m on the Memoriam list, the Memoriam list, the dreaded Memoriam list?” Then he added, that someone would have to tell her, “‘Calm down, take a deep breath, they’re just trying to pay honor to you…’ That is when she would sort of retreat, step back and get small again, and in that little whisper she had, ‘I guess that’s OK, I mean there’s always the alternative. At least I made the f*cking list!” To which the audience responded with laughter and tears in their eyes because that is how they remember the woman that graced The Young and The Restless for 40 years.
Corbin apologized for his cursing, and explained that was his mother talking and not him. If that is not the f*cking perfect tribute, I don’t know what is?
