Brian Heidik shoots a puppy with bow and arrow.
July 5th, 2006 under Animals, Arrested, TV Reality. [ Comments: none ]

A winner of the popular reality show Survivor was arrested Wednesday after allegedly shooting a puppy with an arrow.

Brian Heidik, 38, is charged with battery and cruelty to animals. After a pretrial hearing Wednesday morning in Douglas County Magistrate Court, he was released on bond.

During the bond hearing, Heidik told a judge he thought the dog was a coyote that has been harassing his pets, WSB-TV reported on its website.

Douglas County Chief Deputy Stan Copeland said it was a puppy.

"At about 3 a.m., his wife called to report that he was outside and that he had shot a puppy that was on his property with an arrow and planned to shoot another one," Copeland said.

When sheriff’s deputies arrived, Heidik fled in his car but was quickly caught and taken back to the home where the incident occurred.

Heidik’s wife, Charmaine, and 5-year-old son were present at the home at the time of the incident, Copeland said.

Copeland said there was evidence in the home to support a charge of battery for family violence. Because the case is pending, he could not elaborate on the nature of the evidence.

Both the wounded puppy and the second puppy were turned over to animal control officials to determine who they belonged to.

Heidik did not immediately respond to a a message from The Associated Press left on an answering machine at one of two phones listed in his name in Douglasville. There was no answer Wednesday afternoon at the second number. Douglasville is 21 miles west of Atlanta.

Heidik won the $1 million prize as the sole survivor of Survivor: Thailand, the fifth edition of the CBS adventure game show broadcast from September to December 2002.

This is some extreme F.U.S.

FIVE orphan kids who are suing ABC and "Extreme Make over Home Edition" are a step closer to a legal showdown with the tear-jerker show and the family that tossed them out of their renovated home.A California appeals court has ruled that the Higgins family – five orphans ranging in age from 14 to 21 years old – can take their heart-breaking case before a jury.
In a show that aired on Easter Sunday last year, "Extreme Makeover" re-did the California home of the Leomitis family – with three children of their own – who took in the Higgins children because they were members of the same church.
But the Higgins kids were evicted soon after the renovations, which expanded the little home to nine bedrooms.
Because the Higgins family did not own the house, they had no legal claim.
The network declined to help them and – when the kids sued last August – said the 24-page contract that the orphans signed required them to go to arbitration, which usually ends with the two parties splitting the difference.
The court in California ruled the arbitration clause is "unconscionable" and "unenforceable" and that the case can go to trial.

Seriously? OMG! WTF? The Leomitis family should be forced to live in a one bedroom apartment and the Higgins should get the house.

Write-up on the BB Aussie Official Site
July 3rd, 2006 under TV Reality. [ Comments: none ]

For legal reasons we were not able to provide you with coverage of the events following John and Ash’s removal from the House on the weekend as they happened. For the sake of clarity here is a summary of the events that followed their departure.

On Saturday night, John and Ashley were removed from the House following an incident that breached one of Big Brother’s most fundamental rules. John and Ashley left via the Diary Room unbeknownst to the other HMs who thought they had been called to the Diary Room for a standard visit.

While the surprise performance by the Rogue Traders in the garden initially distracted the HMs from the whereabouts of Ashley and John, eventually some time later they started wondering what had happened to the boys. The HMs were then called to the Diary Room where BB told them: "Last night’s incident was very serious. Camilla did not request nor want any action taken by Big Brother, however Big Brother had no option but to act and remove the two Housemates."

The HMs were shocked at the news and several of them reacted tearfully. Camilla, who was involved in the incident, sobbed: "I feel so bad, I’m sorry." But both BB and the HMs assured her that she had nothing to be sorry about.

Following BB’s announcement, discussion of the incident wasn’t broadcast on the live web streams or covered in the BB Diary for legal reasons. However, Camilla did speak to her HMs about the events of the previous night.

"It wasn’t the right thing to do and even though Ash meant it as a joke, it wasn’t good behaviour," she told the group. But she added that she has no hard feelings towards the boys whatsoever. "There was no malice intended, they were doing it in a playful way and when I said very specifically to John: ‘Don’t. No,’ he didn’t do it."

On Sunday Camilla was interviewed by the Queensland Police and she told them she didn’t wish to take the issue any further. It is no longer a police matter.

Despite the upsets of the last 48 hours, the HMs are moving on from the incident and vowing to continue enjoying their time in the House.
