Al Roker is home again!
December 9th, 2022 under TV News. [ Comments: none ]

Al Roker has spent over a month in the hospital dealing with blood clots that traveled to his lungs.

The weatherman was released from the hospital on Thanksgiving, but he went back in the next day.

Yesterday, he was finally set free again, and he is “incredibly grateful to family, friends, medical folks, @todayshow family and all your thoughts and prayers!” Hopefully, he won’t need to go back, and we will return to Today shortly after the New Year. I don’t know his return date, but I think he earned the time off.

In the last two years, the 68-year-old was diagnosed with and beat prostate cancer, and tested positive for COVID-19 in September.

Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes are taking a break
December 5th, 2022 under TV News. [ Comments: none ]

(ABC/Lou Rocco)

Last week, married to other people, co-anchors Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes were photographed looking like lovers. As the days went on, we found out they were indeed a couple.

That put ABC and Good Morning America in a predicament. Do they keep the budding couple on the air to keep their religious viewers happy? Or do they pull them to see how America will deal with their affair?

Today, after two days of them being on the air together, ABC News President Kim Godwin decided that they needed to take a break, and she told the staff in a phone call, according to TMZ.
Goodwin made the decision because it is a distraction both internally and externally. Then she added, “And so, I want to say that while that relationship is not a violation of company policy, I have really taken the last few days to think about and work through what I think is best for the ABC News organization.”

How did GMA3 handle it? They had their fill-ins, Stephanie Ramos and Gio Benitez, start the show off by saying the anchors have the “day off.” What they should’ve said, they have the day off to spend in bed. What? Too soon?

Goodwin is in a no-win situation. They are free to do what they want as adults, but if it hurts the show’s reputation, then it hurts the show’s future.

I had a friend, who worked as an ABC affiliate, he and his co-anchor, who were both married, had an affair with each other. When news of their affair got out there to the press, she was transferred, and they made his life hell for the rest of his contract with them. He was slated to be the lead anchor, but that never happened.

This was many moons ago, but I am sure ABC is discussing how they handled their affair.

And to say people at ABC didn’t know. That is BS. A newsroom is so full of gossip everyone knows all the juicy stuff, so everyone knew about Robach and Holmes’ affair. I worked in network news, and we all knew about the affair an anchor and his producer has. And both people are still there. Even though, in my opinion, they both suck at their jobs. Not because they sucked on each other.

Al Roker has spent most of November in the hospital due to blood clots from his legs traveling to his heart. He was finally released on Thanksgiving but was rushed back to the hospital on Friday.

A source told Page Six, “Al was taken from his home in a stretcher back to the hospital on Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. His condition was worrying, but once back in the hospital, he improved.”

The 68-year-old weatherman will miss tonight’s Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting.

Hopefully, he will be better soon, at home and back to doing what he loves.

Al Roker reveals why he’s been missing from the Today show
November 18th, 2022 under TV News. [ Comments: none ]

Al Roker is such a staple on the Today show. So when he is not there, we get worried about him. The weatherman has been missing from the news broadcast for almost two weeks, and today he revealed why that is.

“So many of you have been thoughtfully asking where I’ve been. Last week I was admitted to the hospital with a blood clot in my leg which sent some clots into my lungs. After some medical whack-a-mole, I am so fortunate to be getting terrific medical care and on the way to recovery,” the 68-year-old wrote. “Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers and hope to see you soon. Have a great weekend, everyone.”

Hopefully, he will be better soon and back to doing what he loves and what we love watching do.
