I miss the days when USA Network had shows like Monk and Psych on the air. While those days are long gone. Peacock keeps bringing them back for movies to remind us how good things used to be.
So far, we have gotten three Psych movies, and today the streaming service announced that they are getting one for Monk.
“When creator Andy Breckman came to us with a new Monk case set in present day, we immediately fell in love with this story all over again,” said Michael Sluchan, EVP, Movies, Kids, Daytime, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. “The movie has the heart and humor of the original series with a contemporary relevance, and we’re overjoyed to work with the original creative team, including Andy, David Hoberman, Randy Zisk, the unparalleled Tony Shalhoub, and our partners at UCP, for what is sure to be a must-see movie event for Peacock audiences.”
In Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie, our favorite detective returns to solve one last, very personal case involving his beloved step-daughter Molly, a journalist preparing for her wedding.
I know you don’t care about that as much as you want to know who will be back for the reunion movie. Besides the obvious Tony Shaloub, we will also see Ted Levine (who better grow back his mustache), Traylor Howard, Jason Gray-Stanford, Melora Hardin, and Hector Elizondo reprise their roles.
Peacock did not say when this will debut, but I am assuming they will tie it in with the second season premiere of Poker Face. At least, that is what I would do.
Until we get the Monk movie, you can rewatch or discover all eight seasons on Peacock. Monk ran from 2001-2009.
Remember the USA Network show with the germophobe Monk? He has been preparing for something like Coronavirus since he was born? Adrian Monk was using wipes long before they were cool. Which makes me wonder what would he be like now when we are all washing our hands every few minutes?
I don’t have to wonder because Seth MacFarlane asked Tony Shalhoub to reprise his most beloved role for Peacock’s The At-Home Variety Show. I seriously cannot remember the last time I laughed that hard. Once you see him washing his hands to 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall, you know you are about to watch a comedic genius at work.
If that is not enough to bring some much needed joy to your day, then seeing a mini-reunion between Shalhoub and his co-stars Ted Levine (Captain Leland Stottlemeyer), Jason Gray-Stanford (Lieutenant Randy Disher), and Traylor Howard (Natalie Teeger) will do just that.
If I were Peacock, then I would reprise the dramedy with Monk solving unsolved murders from his home because he is too afraid to go out. They could actually film it now. Wouldn’t you watch it?
Back to For Good, the online series is raising money for three nonprofits. They are United Way, AmeriCares, and Feeding America. Three organizations that have helped people get through this Coronavirus crisis.
When it comes to Coronavirus, Shalhoub revealed that he and his wife Brooke Adams tested positive for the virus a few weeks ago, and have beaten it.
We know that Tony Shaloub can act, but did you also know that the Emmy-winner can sing and play the guitar? Today, Carly Simon shared a video of him performing her song It Was So Easy with her and some friends. The Grammy-winner revealed that they are rehearsing for Carnegie Hall.
They are getting ready for March 19th. That is when Michael Dorf will be presenting her music as performed by other artists like the actor. So far, they have announced some of the other singers and they are Indigo Girls, Darlene Love, The Bangles’ Susannah Hoff, Michael McDonald, and Natasha Bedingfield to name a few.
If you are in NYC, then this is a night you don’t want to miss.
CBS just announced that they made the huge mistake of cancelling We Are Men. 2 Broke Girls is moving to 8:30p and on November 4th Mike & Molly will take over the 9p slot. So Chuck Lorre will have the 9p hour with M&M and Mom.
Now when it comes to We Are Men, I don’t think CBS promoted this show properly. It was a touching buddy comedy of 4 men trying to adjust to the single life. I think most people saw the Jerry O’Connell, Tony Shaloub, Kal Penn and Chris Smith starrer as a 4 men acting like dudes. But it was so much more. It really had the potential of being CBS’s replacement to the desperately needs to die How I Met Your Mother that will be put out of misery at the end of this year.
CBS is pushing for Mom and Hostages to be bigger, but I don’t think that will happen. Both shows are lucky to still be on CBS’s schedule. Which I don’t think they should be. I love Chuck Lorre, but I am not loving Mom. I loved We Are Men.
