Tom Cruise too fat for his suit?
November 15th, 2006 under Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes/Suri. [ Comments: none ]

It’s a problem many brides-to-be can relate to and now it would appear that Tom Cruise is having trouble fitting into his wedding suit. Designer Giorgio Armani has made outfits for Cruise and Katie Holmes, who are due to marry this weekend in an Italian castle. The clothes were delivered yesterday to the couple’s £2,500-night-penthouse suite at the Hassler Hotel on the Spanish Steps in Rome. But within hours Italian news website TGcom quoted insiders saying the actor, 44, was "having trouble getting into his suit as he was slightly overweight". Cruise flew into Rome from California on Monday in a private jet with 10 staff. A commercial jet arrived with another 40 assistants. He and actress Holmes, 27, will marry on Saturday at Odescalchi Castle on Lake Bracciano, north of Rome. Local papers reported they were due in Bracciano town today for a rehearsal. The cost of the event is estimated at £5 million and there will be two ceremonies. Number one would have the blessing of the state authorities. Number two is reputed to be a Scientology affair involving cat-stroking and strange incantations. Fellow Scientologists John Travolta and Kelly Preston have been invited, as have Steven Spielberg plus Michael Douglas and his wife Catherine Zeta Jones.

Tom Cruise has his first movie with UA
November 14th, 2006 under Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes/Suri. [ Comments: none ]

Tom Cruise is already making waves at UA. Cruise next will star in "Lions for Lambs," a Robert Redford-directed drama that will co-star Redford and Meryl Streep. Pic will be his first outing for United Artists since he and C/W partner Paula Wagner agreed to revive the shingle for Harry Sloan’s MGM. "Lambs" is a Matthew Carnahan-scripted drama that consists of three interconnected storylines: Cruise as a congressman who interacts with a journalist (Streep); Redford as an idealistic professor who attempts to inspire a privileged student in his class; and a third storyline about a pair of American soldiers wounded in enemy territory, one of whom is Redford’s former student. United Artists is financing the film. Production will begin early next year. Even before Cruise and Wagner made their UA alliance, "Lions for Lambs" was the favorite among three pics Cruise circled as a star vehicle (Daily Variety, Oct. 24). He also has been eyeing a Chuck Leavitt-scripted adaptation of Dave King’s novel "The Ha-Ha" at Warner Bros. and the Spike Lee-directed "Selling Time" at Fox. Given the UA development, "Lions for Lambs" is even more attractive, since it isn’t tethered to a studio and can be distributed through MGM. If deals close and production begins early next year as expected, the studio could have its first C/W-generated film in time for fall 2007. All the creative talent on the film so far is repped by CAA, which helped arrange Cruise’s alliance with UA and a separate overhead pact with Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder. It’s no secret that the agency has made it a priority to find a strong film for Cruise, who wants to prove his UA deal was more than a cosmetic announcement designed to repair his public image.

That sounds so freaking boring, but it will probaly get an Oscar nom or two.

Oprah not good enough for TomKat’s Wedding
November 14th, 2006 under Oprah Winfrey, Penelope Cruz, Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes/Suri. [ Comments: none ]

Tom Cruise may have famously jumped on Oprah Winfrey’s couch to declare his love for Katie Holmes, but Winfrey won’t be at his wedding in Italy Saturday. "It’s not that I’m not going," Winfrey tells Extra’s AJ Calloway in a segment to air on Tuesday. "It’s that they had a limited number of people that they could invite. I was not one the invitees. That’s fine. I don’t get invited to everyone’s wedding. I don’t invite them to everything I do. But I wish them the best." She continues, "I have a great deal of regard for their relationship and so I’m trying to think of what to get them." Asked what she’ll get the couple, she says, "I don’t know! I was thinking … I’m easier (to shop for) – you can get me a bubble bath I’m okay – but I don’t know what to give them."

Want to know what Katie Holmes will be wearing on her wedding night?
November 14th, 2006 under Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes/Suri. [ Comments: none ]

Katie Holmes is getting a fabulous Armani gown for her wedding — and looks like what she’ll be wearing under that gown won’t too shabby, either. Tom Cruise’s bride-to-be went to La Bra Lingerie in West Hollywood and spent more than $3,000 on lacy underthings, more than $1,000 of which was for a “bridal collection” set. Among the purchases: a Chantilly lace bridal collection, reports a source. Among the goodies: a bra that cost $440, a $340 thong, a garter belt for $220, and silk stockings that went for $95 — for a total of $1,190. Additionally, Holmes picked out a silk nightgown with a matching robe trimmed with ostrich feathers that set her back $620, a lace bra with Swarovski crystals for $380 and matching thong with crystals for $175, as well as two sets of silk pajamas and matching robes at $425 each. “They weren’t all white — and they certainly weren’t virginal,” says the source. “But she’s a mom, so I guess that’s appropriate.”

To be honest, I didn’t want to know…but I figured why should suffer alone?
