Jason Mewes is the King of the comic book Nerds!!!
February 7th, 2013 under AXS, Kevin Smith, TNT/TBS/TCM. [ Comments: none ]

Tonight at 10p on TBS’s King of the Nerds, Jason Mewes gets to combine two of his greatest loves comic books and Revenge of the Nerds. He is going to be a guest judge on the show and will help to decide the winning team should be. The contestants are going to debate over their comic book love. Something that is near and dear to him and Kevin Smith who is also a judge on the show. And before he hung out with that Kevin, he was hanging with another Kevin watching Revenge of the Nerds all the time. So much so the two of them learned all the words to the rap song at the end of the first movie. Now when it comes to the Kevin that we know, Mewes told me last week during an interview that Smith took him to his first comic book show in NY when they were teenagers and they’ve been hanging out ever since. So it is perfect that they are on tonight’s episode together.
When I was talking to Mewes and he told me what a big fan of the movie he is, I had to know which was his favorite Nerd in it. Without hesitation he said Booger, thus he really enjoyed working with Curtis Armstrong on the show. So while the contestants went all fan boy over him, he was going all fan boy over Booger!
And what about those contestants. When I asked him if they knew more than him when it came to comic book knowledge. He wouldn’t say that they know more about comic books than Smith and him, but he would say “They had more passion behind each debate. When they were debating about one thing or the next. They really knew what they were talking about.” We will have to tune in to watch their debates that are much different than the average person’s who would be arguing with their friends which superhero they would rather have sex with. Not saying the contestants on the show don’t do that, but they won’t be doing that tonight on the nerdiest competition show on television.
So besides doing King of the Nerds, he has a full plate on his hands. He is hosting AXS Live an hour long live pop culture show on AXS TV on Mondays and Tuesdays. He is also working on a Jay and Silent Bob Groovy Cartoon Movie. The 70 minute animated film that he produced and was written by Kevin Smith will hopefully be out in April and they are planning on touring with it. You can check out his YouTube channel SeesMod. You can listen to his Smodcast with Kevin Smith and see them on tour. And if that is not enough, he told me he would love to a storyarc on either ABC’s Revenge (a show he loves) and/or The CW’s Arrow. There has to be a way to make this happen.
But before that happens make sure to watch Jason Mewes tonight at 10p on TBS’s King of the Nerds.

Monday Mornings is the perfect drama for your Monday evenings!
February 4th, 2013 under TNT/TBS/TCM. [ Comments: none ]

Monday Mornings debuts on TNT tonight at 10p after Dallas and you don’t want to miss one of the best dramas to grace our televisions in a long time.
Doctors are responsible for saving lives and because of that fact some of them might become overly cocky. Monday Mornings is a show where you see these doctors doing get knocked down a notch when the messed up in a weekly meeting. In a way these meetings keep them humble and you wanting more.
Alfred Molina plays Dr Harding Hooten who runs these meetings. He is the one who puts his surgeons in their place whether they like it or not, and most of the time they don’t. But he is doing this for his patients’ benefits. And when you see him interact with them, you will see a compassion that you haven’t seen any doctor show before on television.
Could be because this show is co-created by CNN’s Sanjay Gupta. He has lived these experiences in his own life, so adding some fiction to them makes them seem so much real.
So real that I have seen some of these doctors in my hospital stays and such. One doctor that really brought back bad memories is Dr Sung Park, who barely has the English language down. He might be amazing at what he does, but he has the worst bedside manner you have ever seen. He tells patients get the surgery or dead because he has no time to interact with the talking patients and their family. While I have not had that experience, how many times have we seen a doctor who is so brunt with his diagnosis, you don’t know how to react and what to do? Well Dr Hooten will try to teach him compassion, but is he too thick skulled to get it? Keong Sim plays Dr Park and his portrayal is so dead on that I was shocked when I read his real life bio.
He isn’t the only doctor on the show, there is also Dr Tyler Wilson played by Jamie Barber. He will do anything he can to save his patients, but sometimes his inexperience will hurt them. He will be called out in these meetings for his mistakes.
Then there is his friend and colleague Tina Ridgeway (Jennifer Finnigan), she in a way is the one that keeps everyone calm. She is tough doctor who sees the potential in her interns. That will cost her, but yet she will appear to remain level headed and the one people go to talk to when they need someone. This is a role unlike anyone that Finnigan has played before and it is one she was born to play.
Then there is Dr Sydney Napur (Sarayu Rao), who you can tell is show co-creator’s Bill D’Elia and David E Kelley’s, baby on the show. She is the one that gives the speeches. She is the tough one. She is the one with ethics. She is the one you don’t want to mess with. And she is the one you want to look after you if you were unfortunately in the hospital!
There is one final doctor and that is Dr Jorge “El Gato” Villanueva played by Ving Rhames. He is the kind of the moral compass of them all.
I cannot express to you how much I love this show. D’Elia and Kelly have returned to medicine after several legal dramas and it has resuscitated how amazing these two show runners are in this field. They know how to bring heart to a drama. Unlike anything we have seen done with a medical show since their last one Chicago Hope.
There is a compassion with this show and a honesty that makes it so watchable. It is not a soap opera. It is not about a mad man. It is about doctors doing their job and not always getting it right. Unlike other ones they will not keep getting wrong in one episode until they get it right.
That is what I like most about this show. It shows that doctors are imperfect, but sometimes they are that way to make the person perfect again.
So watch this show every Monday night at 10p because paired up with Dallas, TNT has one of the strongest Mondays on television ever!

Dallas stikes oil again in its second season premiere tonight!
January 28th, 2013 under TNT/TBS/TCM. [ Comments: none ]

Dallas is back on TNT tonight at 9p with a 2 hour season premiere and it is even better than the first season.
The second season picks up about a month after the first one ended. Rebecca aka Pamela Barnes (Julie Gonzalo) is back from an extended vacation and she is ready for revenge. Christopher (Jesse Metcalfe) and Elena (Jordana Brewster) are openly dating and John Ross (Josh Henderson) is working along side his two enemies. His mother Sue Ellen (Linda Gray) is just days away from the Governor’s election and her ex-husband J.R. Ewing (the late great Larry Hagman) will do anything to get her elected. Meanwhile his sister-in-law, Ann’s (Brenda Strong) daughter has finally been found, but meeting her might cause Sue Ellen the election. And then there is Bobby (Patrick Duffy) who proves he is the best husband and father that anyone can hope for, brother and uncle not so much.
There is so much exciting stuff that happens on tonight’s season premiere that I don’t want to spoil you too much about what is going to happen. What I will tell you is if you are looking for something to heat up your freezing winter nights, then Dallas is the show for you to watch tonight and every Monday at 9p.

Last week I was on a bunch of conference calls with Dallas’ second generation and they previewed what is coming up this season on the show that proves it is good to be bad! And yet they are all so nice even though some of them of play bad.

Josh Henderson aka John Ross Ewing:
Well basically season 2 taped about a month after we last saw the Ewings at the end of season one. So, you know, John Ross kind of went from this very angry vengeful place right after basically letting his mother bring the ring back. And now it’s just like he’s all alone and if anybody gets in his way he’s going to take them down. That was his kind of attitude at the end of season one.
Season two picks up a month later, he has chilled out a little bit and he has a different approach. I think that he still wants to take over Ewing Energies, that’s his goal, but he knows that he can’t just be guns blazing angry all the time.
So he has a different tactic and he has chilled out a little bit and he wants to kind of fly under the radar a little more and but he’s definitely working on a big plan.

Julie Gonzalo aka Pamela Rebecca Barnes Ewing:
I think that, Rebecca, the character last season was, you know, playing parts. She’s a con artist. I think that she was just trying to make her father proud in many ways. And I think that this year that changes are that is now herself.
She is now her true self. She is Cliff Barnes’ daughter. Her name is Pamela Barnes. She walks into a room and is now who she needs to be. And then it’s there’s a lot of honesty behind the role this year. And I think the thing that’s the beauty of scenes such as the honesty in a role.
And there’s going to be a lot of revelations this season that are going explain why things happened the way they did to – for her and why she did the things she did last season.

Jordana Brewster aka Elena Ramos:
Well what I love that Drew Ramos coming back is. Well first I really like the actor playing him Kuno is really fun to work with. But I love that it brings out a whole different side of Elena.
I mean everyone knows no one pushes your buttons like family. And her older brother actually really pushes her buttons and forces her to be very adversarial because he is a bit of a bad boy and he usually causes trouble and that is how she views him initially. So it is has been really fun to be able to show that side of Elena.

Jeese Metcalfe aka Christopher Ewing:
He definitely starts to consider compromising his ethics. And he certainly ultimately does dance on the dark side a little bit. He’s really forced to in order to compete with everyone around him being so, yeah, manipulative. So yes, you know, you’re definitely going to see a darker side of Christopher come mid season.

I crown King of the Nerds smart fun!
January 17th, 2013 under TNT/TBS/TCM. [ Comments: none ]

Back in 1984 we got to know Robert Carradine and Curtis Armstrong as Lewis and Booger from Revenge of the Nerds and tonight at 10p we will get to know them as the hosts of TBS’s King of the Nerds.
Starting tonight eleven nerds are going to vie for the title of King of the Nerds, but only one of then can be crowned the winner. They are smart, gamers, Trekkies, trivia experts and most important they are nerds. Not actors playing nerds, but the real thing.
For their first challenge two captains will be chosen and they will each pick a team, the lone nerd will be left standing there just like they did when they were in school. This is tough challenge for the nerds because it will bring back some bad memories, but once they are picked they are much happier. Well everyone but the biggest loser.
Now that the teams have been chosen, it is time for their next challenge. They will play a game of life-size chess and a short time later someone will say checkmate and the loser will go home.
Each week they will compete in two challenges that only they could master and we will have fun watching this reality show that actually teaches you something.
Plus who doesn’t love having two of our favorite nerds from Revenge of the Nerds back on TV!!! Tri Lambs forever!

Rizzoli and Isles changing the show’s name to Rizzoli on Isles?
December 4th, 2012 under Conan O'Brien, TNT/TBS/TCM. [ Comments: none ]

Sasha Alexander was on Conan yesterday and she told the TBS host that Angie Harmon and her boob slap each other on the set of their TNT show that airs tonight at 10p. Conan O’Brien said that isn’t a common thing for women to do to each other, but he doesn’t have a problem with it. Then the two of them along with Andy Richter demonstrated all the moves that they do and would like to see done by women to other women.
And on that note Conan showed some fan art pictures of Rizzoli & Isles getting it on and that’s when Alexander said they are changing the show’s title to Rizzoli on Isles. Even though the show is one of cable’s biggest hit, the name change will most certainly make it the most watched one.
